| Yeah this song is definately about suicide. This is the song that made me want to keep living because everyone's lives would fall apart if I didn't and I would never want to cause pain to others. | |

| Gah, this song is pretty much my favorite. The first time I heard it was two weeks after one of my best friends killed himself. I've got somewhat of an emotional attachment to this song. And the video is amazing! And when they sang it at YC this year, man I was so excited and defiently almost cried. And I bought a shirt that's grey and says "WE STARTED AT ZERO" in yellow. And they signed it. Anyway, yeah...I love this song. | |

| @elimy Saying they "started at zero" basically means theyre at 'square one' ie they started off the same, with no issues, nothing, nowhere to go but straight into their lives. Saying that they "started at zero" and wondering "hwo things changed" is saying that, if they started off the same, what happened between then and now that caused his friend to commit suicide. well thats what I also think.. 1 2 Next | |

| "And we started at zero, and went different ways Now we're all out here wasting away And if we started at zero, then how did things change? It seems like just yesterday we were the same" i think that means that they were like happy and w/e that was zero but then something happened to the guy that commited suicide and they changed in different ways and they weren't the same anymore. | |

| This song is soooo beautiful! And the music video adds even MORE meaning to it! Near the end, all the friends of the person that died were laying on the ground and they had writing around them. One of them said they stopped cutting because of their friend's death and everything. It was absolutly freaking amazing! | |

| maybe the chorus means that they all started at the age of 0 and were all the same you kno. they all liked to play live laugh hav fun and all that great stuff as lil kids and now theyre all grown up and taking there own course and living their own life and making there own different choices. theyre all just gradually drifting apart and sum making bad choices others making good ones. idk thats wat it seems like to me. iv never lost ne one close to me but thats just wat think | |

| this song makes me think about a lot of people I know. the person was going through a lot of hardship but didn't want people to know it. like he was pretending to be happy but was really depressed on the inside. and instead of asking for help and dealing with his problems he decided to take his own life instead | |

| wat it means is that a guy losta friend and thinking to himself why he would do this. It is about suicide Hawk Nelson explained this on their interview. but this guy is mournign over his friend and when it says "We started at zero and went different ways" and when it says "They say they're sorry but what are they sorry for" and so on and he is trying to figure out what his friend was thinking why did he have to go down this route it is saying that started togetther at the same place but yet up there and they went different ways the guys friend killed himself and the guy probably went somewhere better in his life | |

| At first I thought it was about a father leaving his family too. Then after I read some of these posts, it was clearer that it was about suicide. lovely101, you aren't a loser for this making you want to cry. Because then I'd be a loser too. It really is a sad song, but it's nice. | |

It seems like just yesterday we were the same" well at least the first part, i know what it means but i cant get ahold of it, someone please explain it to me!!! thanks.. | |

| You pop in the HN cd and you get all these awesome songs, but most of them are somwhat pop/punkish, normal Hawk Nelson, and a little bit like everyone else, and then you hear this, and you go "whoa" that really sets them apart. any band can do a song with a cool beat, and make it good, but not many bands can take a subject like this and make it into a GOOD piece of music. it takes dedication and soul in the song, and they do that here, great song :) | |
