JUST SAy that its over, its over and shes gone ..'Dont worry' he said and hes not coming home ,Its over and shes gone The distance and ,my hearts to sandflowing threw the hour glass I fall to peices,i cant letgo of all the times I never said goodbye ...wake up ...WAke Up! WAKE UP NOW ITS OVER..,just tell me its ok to DIE! ...woo this is my fav song by them..i started the pit for the breakdown..WAKE uppp...i think its about a relationship having a distance..and it not being easy and how he cant give her up..maybe him being on the road..

i quote from the CD booklet, "The title of the song is pretty self-explanitory for anyone who has been in a touring band. You have to put your entire life on standby to try your hardest. You have to give up some of the thingsyou love for awhile to have the chance of a lifetime. This particularly shines through in the lyrics 'Time to let go of all I know, and break our hearts inn stride.' This was one of the first songs that started to show more of a cynical edge. But in every lyric I write, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel that this a good introduction to Hawthorne Heights, because it has parts that are both dark and light."

way to go lipgloss&letdown, i'm glad someone cleared that up. Hawthorne ruled on the A Static Lullaby tour, they definitely stole the show, a lot of people left after they played. Anyway you suckers out there make sure to support Hawthorne on the Take Action Tour with Sugarcult and the Early November.

this song has the most beautiful lyrics! but only when there right! there are just a few mistakes its...............the distance and my heart to sand flowing through the hour glass time to let go off all we know and break our hearts in stride...and....the distance and my heart to sand flowing through the hour glass i fall to peices i cant let go......ok i hope that helps some people with the real meaning of the song!

One of my best friend's ironically lived out this song. She went to see HH in Nashville playing at Rockettown; she was the only one to meet the band. She was in a car accident on the way home; the helicopter flew her to Vanderbilt and they could not resuscitate her. Her boyfriend(who was driving and survived) said they were listening to "Life on Standbye". My band did a cover of this song as a tribute to her; Her boyfriend was our bassist; we sang in tears, "Wake up now; it's over...just tell me it's ok to die." The crowd joined us in a silent revrie of love and goodbye played out ever so tragically on the silver screen. Feb 21 2006; I am going to see the same show; at the same place; and meet the same fate... 1 2 Next
