that's really all i have...it sounds really good when you play it to the song. I just
mess around with the three chords for the bridge and outro..don't have it exactly
down..but this is good enough for now.

RiseUpStandTall good point about needing someone who needs you. It is a nightmare i have this same issue which is why it is the best song on the CD to me

This song (while not my favorite on the CD) has I think the best part. When he starts singing "wake me up from this nightmare", I think its amazing. The background vocals add so much to it as well, its both mellow and driven. As for the meaning of the song is about needing someone who doesn't need you. Its a scary thought (a nightmare, if you will), and he realizes that she'll never want him the same way. Beautifully written. -Ashes

I like the guitar..it definitly has rhythm as it rocks away. The drummer is pretty solid. Can't hear the bass as well, though. Lead sounds like he knows what he's doing. As for the song...I'm going to have to agree with DangerousBagel. The lyrics are..well, kinda cheesy! Hate to say it, but some of them are so cliche it makes me smile. Still, that doesn't mean I don't like them. I love the melody lines and the way they use harmony. The only bad thing I can say about this band is the content of their lyrics.

Hawthorne Heights isn't original. They can't even make good lyrics.

does anyone else think the guitar in the chorus of this song sounds like "Bleeds No More" by Silverstein?

This is by far the best song on the album... If you would open up your god damn ears its not about the lyrics... Who cares? its about interpretting the song to what you want to think... My interprettation: This guy really loves a girl but the girl doesnt know and he just craves her...

It's a pretty good song but, we are on songmeanings.com :P I don't think the lyrics are cliche maybe the subject but not the lyrics. If you want chliche go listen to R&B music about ho's, cash and drugs or Britney Spears.

I will agree on one thing here with everyone, yes the guitar is fantastic. Definitely one of, if not my favorite song on the CD. Yeah the lyrics may be a tad bit cliche but oh well. Pretty much everything has been written about at some point or another right? So I think the focus here should be the presentation of the lyrics which is the music, and the music is extremely good. And one last note, Dangerousbagel you are speaking about MTVmo kids and "their bands". You have Blink 182 as one of your favorite bands. You have officially lost all right to talk about cliched and repetitive lyrics. (Not to say I don't like Blink, cause I do but I just CAN'T see how you can call another bands lyrics unoriginal when pretty much every Blink song deals with girls or youth.) Hah, and while I'm on it you don't MAKE lyrics. You WRITE them. Way to MAKE a proper sentence. About the meaning, yeah Riseup I think you hit it pretty good. Excellent meaning as a lot of people have a fear like this.

oh my gosh! dude, whoever RiseUpStandTall is, you are the mad smartest person ever! ok, my weakness in life is parts of songs where the person who sings just like...its like they are exposing their heart to you and you can hear the pain in their voice and its like straining. at that part in the song and hes all "wake me up from this nightmare!" oh my gosh, it makes me wish i could just capture that moment and make it last forever. and the fact that its so short and at the end of the song makes you listen to it over and over and over. and like...they wouldnt give you the delight of playing his voice like that all the time, cuz then it wouldnt be special. but its like...raw, and so uncontaminated. and then the vocals in the background are AMAZING. i wish i could find out exactly what they are saying, anybody know? i would LOVE to find out. and just one thing to say: whats so bad about cliches? i mean...yeah using them all the time, but cliches can make GREAT music. i mean...the fact that you can write lyrics that dont make it sound like "i just thought of all the deep inpressing words that i could and put them together" to me and pretty darn impressing in itself. i can tell they worked on this song, on all their songs. props to them. vans make socket go boom sarah
