This is called 'Dog and Butterfly' by Heart. The picking in the bridge isn't exact but
I've watched them play this song many times and it's close. Nancy Wilson says they always
end the song moving the first chord up and down the neck. You'll see what I mean.

| I always thought this song was talking about making pictures out of clouds in the summer Blue sky. And the comparison of before you know what you want, it's gone, just like the image of the cloud you thought looked like a dog, or Butterfly.... The part where she talk about finding the old mans sectret place, is where he went to get high... and when she caught him, all she could say was " see the Dog and butterfly..." she was referring to him having to get high to get what he needed... | |

| I have been having such a difficult time lately and have been so stressed and depressed and then I had this awesome beautiful dream last night and there were these rolling hills and a lake like the one close to my house and my dogs were there and my old friends and everything was okay and I woke up singing this song and cannot get it off my mind. I don't know what it means to me. Maybe that all of the pressure and all of the things that seem so important and scary are not and that everything is going to be okay and that I will feel that way again... happy and hanging out with my dogs on the lake. And somehow all of this old pain from being a child has carried over but it will heal. Maybe that is what the song is about hurting and healing and realizing that things are not that bad??? I don't know. But i can't find any other forums or answers to interpretations about the song.... 1 | |
