| I've seen Hey Mercedes three times in concert, and all three times was before I got the CD, and they decided to play 3 times in one year around where I live. I was lucky, but I wish I knew the songs better when i saw them because they are amazing live, and the whole crowd sang along. This is such an upbeat song, regardless of its meaning being kind of a downer. Just had to say, this band is phenominal and the drummer is amazing as well. | |

| goalgirl997: yeah if you haven't heard any of HM's songs before it would be tough to get into their show. but buy the four song EP and i'd say the best song is "what you're up against". i must say hearing them open with "bells" is quite invigorating, though. peace | |

| The song to me is about Chris Broach, the member of Braid that is not in Hey Mercedes. It was three months after Braid broke up that Hey Mercedes got together and Nanna said that the time inbetween was a really rough time for him ("the last three months in mentral traction"). I think the break downs on the train refer to fights that the guys got into on the road, leading to the break up of Braid. I think the parts about him singing offkey and being happy also have to do with Broach, but Nanna is saying he's doing just fine in Hey Mercedes. Love this song; it might be my favorite HM song. | |

| i think song is awesome. I think this song is talking about how even though life really seems like hell, for the moment you're just caught up in living it to the ffullest. this song, even though, the words can seem quite harsh at points it still puts me in a good, reminisent mood. | |

| GREAT SONG! I think the song is about being on tour, and he is having a phone conversation with someone about whats been goin on during the past fews nights. The person he is talking to is far away, 4 hours away. Thats why the name of the song is 11 to your 7. Because the time is 11 where he is, and its 7 o clock where he/she is. Thats just what I think, I could be off, but its a lot better than what everyone else has been saying. :) | |
