But the truth is I cant even say goodbye

I already can see the video for this-she drives a car, kisses a boy, the end. Even though i cant stand her as a person, but none the less, very catchy song.

she`s comparing her love life to driving in a car..basically, she falls in love with a guy and vice versa; that`s how you get together right? but then he falls for someone else eventually..but he works his charm and is together with her again, making her think he`s learned his lesson, but he hasn`t. and she jumps back down into reality and realizes he`s just playing with her heart. and she`s got to getaway from him.

It think it's about a stalker. Like some dude in leather pants is following her around, and she wants to get out of town. That was just my impression when I heard this song. 1

M theaory on this song is she's a girl thats confused she loves this ex boyfriend but he keeps hurting her. He tells her he loves her whenever he wants something and she gets all confused and once she falsl for his little trapt he tosses her away. So she feels that she needs to getaway... I think that's what it means cauz i was in one of thoses situations and i feel that's what it means. I'm not a big fan of hilary duff but i love this song.. i think if they made this music video she'd probably be in a car and when she drives she sees couple and like memories of everything go in her head that's my opinion... but i dunno if it's right

I really like this song...I mean it's obvious what it's about but it just gives you the weird feeling in your stomach when you're about to go do something you might regret. Wait.. that's prolly just me...

Perhaps she's in a relationship, and there's this guy who keeps doing her over, and she knows she;s gotta move on but she's stuck on him. "Everytime I think you're gone, you show up in my rearview mirror". Everytime she thinks shes over him he shows up and she realises how deep she feels but she knows hes no good for her, she HAS to move on. LOL. I could apply that to a situation I used to be in.

what? saying that she can sing like avril is a compliment. hilary doesn't need any of those.

Very good point pop it. I like this song a lot, especially the part that's spoken. I can really relate with that.

Correction to the lyrics...in the chorus, it's "put the pedal down," not paddle. It goes along with all the other metaphors in the song comparing driving to relationships.

He keeps coming back to her, saying he loves/needs her, but then goes again and makes her think why on earth did I bother with him? Hmm yes. I love Hilary - she should have released this song. 1
