| 'we are not the ones to blame' is my all time favorite line... i have it sewn on like 3 t-shirts. Pheromonic, thats a little sexist. but i'm sure saying things like that makes you feel really high and mighty. unfortunatly, youre not. | |

| I love how Valo lies about what his songs mean so he won't turn off the majority of his audience. It's especially funny when the lyrics OBVIOUSLY mean something very different from what he says they mean. I've heard him claim that this is just a cute little pop ditty, and I've heard him claim that this is about not having to pretend to be something you're not when you're with your friends. What this song seems to be about is giving in to your desires, because it is irrational not to. Specifically, this seems aimed at premarital sex. If one person is waiting for marriage and doing everything but intercourse ("the more we have, the more we want") then it becomes painful to wait ("and the more it hurts our hearts"). And the speaker wonders, why bother squashing your desires and waiting for marriage ("keep on pretending our heaven's worth the waiting"), when you can't know that this person will be right for you sexually just because you're married ("keep on pretending it will be the end of our craving")? It's a rather bitter song! Good stuff. | |

| I think this song could mean different thing to different people. No one knows why Vallo wrote this song. But this song means (for me at least) that we have to deal with the shit here on earth to reach our erternal Heaven, that is worth the waiting. This is taken from a Catholic view. | |

| this song to me alone means if you love someone don't let something get in the way... and the "keep on pretending" part is someone waiting and wanting something bad to happen but valo is saying Keep on pretending its not gonna happen. and the love is a flame that cant be tamed is... the love that they show to each other is the love that will stick... or this could all be a song where the guy is a compleete ass and says keep on pretending my love for every girl in the fuggin world is one that canot be tamed ~Rock -Robert | |

| I agree, HearMeWhisper. That's the meaning I like best, actually, but I didn't think anyone else could see it that way, 'cause many HIM fans are extremely touchy and closed-minded about the relationship between religion and HIM. Glad to see someone making the connection. No matter what this song means--and it's so ambiguous it could mean a thousand different things equally--I honestly believe that this song is a masterpiece, and can only pray that the band'll make more with such craft in the future. One thing that I love is that it is circular. The image Valo gives us in the beginning, he returns to for the finishing of the song. It recalls many writings in Ancient Greece that would use the same format, to emphasize the importance of the image for the meaning of the text. The song is also amazing in its minimalism--it is just astounding that so much ambiguity (and yet solid meaning) could be gathered from so few lines, in repetition. When I read these lyrics I often feel like I'm reading cryptic wisdom from some ancient religious text... gosh it's so good!! | |

| I think this song is mainly geared towards young people (25 and under), who believe they are so deeply in love and assume this is the right thing for them, when in reality it's not. "keep on pretending, It will be the end of our craving". That line states that people who believe they are in love think that they will no longer crave anybody else. But they do, or will eventually... Especially if the couple is young. That song also talks about people who fall in love or get married at a very young age. They miss out on their youth and get married and/or have kids while they are financially unstable and not ready. That where the whole "Heaven" part comes into play. If you are in school or have any goals you want to accomplish, falling in love or getting married will kill those dreams. You can kiss those dream goodbye. A women is usually a dream killer. If a man has any unfinished dreams or goals, but makes the mistake of falling in love and getting married, the woman will do anything in her power to kill those dreams. She'll start babbling about "where were you", "we don't spend much time together", "you're selfish and only think about yourself" etc... Or she'll try to lock you in by saying she's pregnant and is having the child, which is a hard one to overcome, and will definitely kill your dreams and ambitions | |

| IF you ignorant fucks could read he clearly says " women is usually a dream killer.". Putting emphasis on USUALLY. Does that account for all cases? No? So even if he really is sexist you have no right to call him that because he hasnt given us solid proof in his response. Lines are USUALLY long at the amusement park. Think about it | |

| This is the best song off their New album, IMHO. It's got a great Hook to it and the lyrics are well written. | |
