lol, thats ok. I guess. I think when he says 'Dont let go, my love' He means for the girl not to give up just yet, and not give up on him, when he needs her most as I have said about them being together etc.

If I remember it correctly Ville said that what he means with Rip out the wings of a butterfly is something innocent doing something terrible. Like a young child ripping out the wings of a butterfly. Or something like that :) Any way, great song. Sounds abit like The 69 Eyes.

What's wrong with it having something to do with God and Satan? I think that a very, very high percentage of their songs are about God and Satan, but that's not a bad thing at all. I know they claim not to be a Satanic band, but I think they've just said that because they don't want to come off as devil-worshippers. It seems that they don't, in fact, worship the devil, but that they find the myth of the fallen angel/the devil to be a really good metaphor which could apply easily to humans, and human relationships.

Honestly, I have to somewhat agree with rebelprincess34. I started out hearing about how "HIM was such a great band!" and "It's Bam's fave band" (I saw them on his show, thought they were great), so when I heard this song, I thought, "Wow, I have to download this song!". Well, today I bought their CD thinking, "Oh well, I'll find other songs I like on it, why not?". I didn't like it. I've only liked "Wings of a Butterfly". Anyways to the meaning of the song. It looks like when he is saying "Heaven ablaze in our eyes" and "Hell freezing over in our eyes" something is going on that no one can stop whatsoever except this one person who has to make a sacrifice in order to save it. My other guess, in the "Gods kneel before our crime", this person has committed a sin and has to let go of something ("Rip out the wings of a butterfly, for your soul") in order to be forgiven.

First of all can anyone else confirm that HIM didnt originally stand for His Infernal Majesty? If it does indeed stand for His Infernal Majesty that right there says that they do worship the devil and this is probably what they are singing about. Heaven ablaze in our eyes We're standing still in time The blood on our hands is the wine We offer as sacrifice I think they are saying in these verses that Heaven is ablaze in their eyes because they have committed a very bad crime. Time is standing still while God looks down on them and they turn away from God by offering the blood from their crime as a sacrifice to the devil. Come on, and show them your love Rip out the wings of a butterfly For your soul, my love Rip out the wings of a butterfly For your soul I think the chorus is the clearest part of the song. It probably means something along this line. Come on and show them your love for me(the devil). The rip out the wings of a butterfly is a metaphor. The butterfly represents something good(best example is an angel) and the ripping out the wings is having to do with doing something to that good thing to ruin it or at least show that u dont respect that thing or hate it. This endless mercy mile We're crawling side by side With hell freezing over in our eyes Gods kneel before our crime I think these verses mean that: They are crawling this endless mercy mile(the path to hell), side by side(so there was 2 or more people involved in the crime). With hell freezing over in our eyes is probably one of those things where someone would say that that will happen when hell freezes over and so the crime or whatever they have done would happen when hell froze over. And the final line is basically a form of trickery in a lie. God would never kneel before a evil crime...this is said to lure people into thinking that the devil is the supreme ruler when in reality he is not. Well thats my 2 cents....im not saying i hate this song...I love the catchy tune, i just dont like the message if it is really what i think it is.

I think this song means that a couple commited a crime and to solve this problem they must 'rip out the wings of a butterfly, for their soul' so to speak. I know it's a metaphor but that is what I think it means. Also when it says, "Don't let go, My Love" I think one person is trying to guide their lover in order for them both to be happy in heaven together. And when that happens hell freezes over because they have both made it to heaven. Also when they say, "Come on and show them your love", it means to show the Gods that you love them. And I believe that love is the most powerful thing out there. When the Gods kneel before their crimes, it's like they forgive them because they have atoned for their crimes. That is what I think anyway. We all have our opinions. I just wanted to share this one because this is an awesome song.

It still doesnt have anything to do with GOD. And Ville didnt want to sound cliched, but a butterfly represents someything that is beautiful and helpless, and doesnt have a very long life. And if you destroy a butterfly its like killing something thats pure and cant fend for itself.

When I first heard this song I couldn't get it out of my head, just another typically catchy HIM song laced with excellent riffs and superb vocals. My friend didn't like it when she first heard it and thought it was boring, but I think its a good first single for an album which is less metal based and more melodic. Anyone who says that they're selling out is an idiot. If they want to go more mainstream then its good for them and the label could not have found a better band. Not sure about the CGI in the video...
