Okay here we go kids, this is from memory so, hehe...this is a very very
simple song and its just plain great..play with the chords a little and add
the picking in there...
If you change the A to Am it sounds cool too, and keep in mind I'm
remembering this from the Unplugged concert...I can't remember for sure
just how the "watching you burn" part is but I think its the same, so work
with it.. :)
*Best Sunday Dress* Written by Courtney Love
A C Em
I put on my best Sunday dress
A C Em
Walked straight into this mess of mine
And I put on my best Sunday dress
Then I walked straight into this mess, he's watching you burn
Watching you burn...
Watching me burn...
Put on my best Sunday dress
I walked into this mess of mine
And I put on my best Sunday dress
Then I walked straight into this mess
He's watching me burn
Watching you burn...
Watching you burn...
I put on my best Sunday dress

| Pale blue eyes so dumb Pale blue eyes so far away Take him to the river Could be references to the Nirvana song "Dumb" and the world-renowned Wishkah river (a.k.a. from the muddy banks of). | |

| i think that in a way this is a sweet song, but it is also very sad. i think this song is about someone who puts on a happy face for people, when reallt they are dying inside. i think she uses the line "best sunday dress" as a metaphor for "a smiling face". | |

| She could have written it about Kurt, but I know it wasn't about his death cause it was written way before she was even convinced he could kill himself. | |

| The Sugar Babylon song has only chorus from this song. The other lyrics are completely different, there's just "put on my best sunday dress and i walk straight into this mess of mine", if I remember right. Feels like it's about Kurt.. anyway it's beautiful. 1 | |

| here's the lyrics straight from the hole website: Put on my best Sunday dress And walked straight into this mess of mine And I put on my best Sunday dress And I walked straight into this mess And watching you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ah Pale blue eyes so young Pale blue eyes so far away Watch me with his sorrow Forgive me all his pain And I've come here to confess To the wind and the rain and the glorious fame And I've come here all undressed For the numb and the dumb both say The name that you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ai-ay Watching you burn - ah Pale blue eyes so dumb Pale blue eyes so far away Take him to the river Forgive us all his pain Oooh, I'm coming undone He comes from the coal mine I see you shine like a diamond And curse us all goodnight And I put on my best Sunday dress And I walked straight into this mess of mine And I've come here all undressed With the poison and pain to take With mine that you burn - ay-ah That you burn - ah Pale blue eyes so young Pale blue eyes so far away Take me to his sorrow Forgive us all his pain Watching you burn (put on my best Sunday dress) - ay-ah Watching you burn - ay-ah Watching you burn (put on my best Sunday dress) - ay-ah Watching you burn - ay-ah Watching you burn (put on my best Sunday dress) - ay-ah Watching you burn - ay-ah Watching you burn (put on my best Sunday dress) - ah Put on my best Sunday dress ----- this song is beautiful | |
