Most are just labeled assholes or idiots. But they are all bonded by civilization's negative out look on what they do. Thanks to the internet they have been able to make that mental connection a little bit more physical. For them it doesn’t matter what grades you make, or how you look, it's about how they feel watching your videos. The stunt men feel the bond of broken bones, and stitches. The pranksters and documentarians feel the bond of bail bonds and hand cuffs. The more classical movie makers, that make the skits, they feel the strain of writers block and broken pencils.
Some use homegrown as a spring board for what they want to do in the future, whether it be professional movie making, professional stunt man, editing, or acting they pick up skills and insight that can only come from experience. Others use homegrown as an outlet for teenage angst or frustration. The rest use it for living there life through there film, where if you fail, you have a constant reputation and a demanding fan base of fellow film makers who expect excellence.
