| Doug is singing through the eyes of the little boy (a guy doug knew when he was younger). Doug is singing on that boys behalf about not having a father and growing up without one. | |

| This song (to me) is sort of about a man looking back at his life, his childhood. He realizes he is now so cold, an outsider, emotionally scarred. Where'd he go wrong? How'd he get like this? Where is that boy who used to run? He's now asking himself these questions...trying to find out who he really is... 1 | |

| Up and Gone" is about finding peace and hope in life apparently, about a child who's father wasnt rely around when he was young and was forced to grow up by himself, and make his own way in the world. And it seems as though he is finding it hard now and looking back at his life and thinking "how did i get to this part of my life" What happened to the boy that used to run? he is all grown up. It seems he has learnt from the mistakes he has made in life, but cannot go back to his childhood to change them | |
