STARS by: HUM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Scott Sommers (Cyclops)
Email: scott_sommers_Cyclops@hotmail.com
Tuning: Drop D
NOTES: An oldie, but with a lot of fun riffs. In addition, if played right,
with a full band, it sounds incredible. (It is the only good song they put out
in my opinion.)
STUMMING NOT INCLUDED, LISTEN TO THE SONG

| Well this is how i figure it to be. Missing the train to mars, makes a reference to the whole "Men are from mars, women are from venus" deal, the whole not being at work, school, etc can stand for just the influence the person has put on her, and its overwhelming her. Counting daisies can very abstractly mean that she was doing the "Love me, love me not" thing... or maybe just the collection of flowers to bring peace to the mind. the one thing I dont understand is the paper thing, it could be what that other person said about it. But yet I dont know... Its just a guys expression on how he thinks his partner feels about the relationship etc... | |

| ive always though that "i thought she'd be there holding daisy..she always waits for me" was like.. when he comes home she's always sitting in the living room holding their cat/dog daisy.. this night he came home really late for the last time, and she totally lost all grips on reality and took off to the back yard and the stars.. like a lot of you said, missing the train(not understanding men) .. and wishing on the stars | |

| yes, there is a video for it. i only know because it was on beavis and butthead once. they were watching tv and it started, you know how it's just that first guitar? it did that, and then butthead said, well at least that crap was short (or something similar) and changed the channel. so i've never seen the whole thing, i just know it exsists. somewhere. | |

| I saw the video once, it's actually how I first heard about HUM (I was too young to catch them the first time). The video is the band playing the song on an incredibly small stage while wearing neon orange prison jumpsuits. It's incredibly mid 90s. | |

| I think the paper thing is about numerology/ astrology; the fact that she was "sitting naked looking up and looking dead" to me implies that she's caught up in some kind of mysticism that signifies she's lost her grip on reality. Hence the guy's feeling that he's "finally broke[n] her," maybe with the mundanity of their life: "everything I want; nothing she needs" and she's no longer reliable in the domestic, homely ("daisies") way. Ah, but what do I know? | |
