OK people. Want to know what this song is about? It is not about Napoleon and Russia. The Holy Grail is Immortality. The Cup of Eternal Life. The scientific search, for a way, to stave off death, by being immortal, finding a way to come back and live again and again and again. The song is the story of the race to be the first to clone a human being. So when they stumbled on The Holy Grail, they stumbled on how to clone a human being. 'All the locals scattered, they were hiding in the snow, We were so far from home, So how were we to know, There'd be nothing left to plunder, When we stumbled on The Holy Grail' And that is what this song is all about ;)

Sounds like an adventure song, with the guy realising that he is explorer but because of this he can't go back to the boring everyday existence most people thrive. Living day to day for the 'holy grail'. ie this quote "I've been high and I've been low But I've nowhere else to go There's nowhere else to go "

yer top aussie song. i think is sort of part of some church histroy by the song with " But have you heard about the great crusade We ran into millions, and nobody got paid." as millions of people were killed trying to win back holy ground with crusades.

This is one of the most played Australian songs ever. Often used in football ads. Great song. Also sung a lot by druk men in their late 30's early 40's. (ie my father)
