| Alright, let me take a stab at it. In order to understand it, you have to understand the meaning of the poem by William Carlos Williams, look it up and figure it out first. The poem basically is about a man who feels free from all that binds him when he dances naked in his bedroom. With that in mind, it's obvious how it fits into the song, the dancer he envisions when he's half-asleep with this woman makes him feel free from his emotions (like the poem's meaning). I don't think the tiny dancer is literally the woman in his bed, but that's what he thinks about when he's with her or signifies who she is. He feels comfortable with himself when he's with her. 1 | |

| I just read on the Hurt website that this song was inspired by the Williams poem and “a two-day experience with a lovely person.” | |

| I read somewhere that Russe actually means "red" and the poem that the song is referring to (this obviously is only one interpretation) the person in the poem (not the song) is dancing in front of a mirror covered in blood after killing his family. This is not my interpretation, it is one I read somewhere else about the poem itself. Somewhat gruesome. | |

| This is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard in my life. The original track that is on the album is wounderful but the "Raw" and Acoustic versions of this song are simply incredible. I have been playing the violin since I was 2 years old and I have never really found an awsome modern rock band that has violin music in it. But then when I heard this guy play his amazing 2 minute solo when i saw them in concert, i couldn't belive it. The lyrics are also very interesting because everyone knows what the underline meaning of the song is but for example the lyrics in th chorus "Theres a tiny dancer in my bed and she never has to much to say" really takes hard and progressive listening to interperate. AMAZING SONG AND ARTIST | |

| Not sure why the other interpretation said russe meant red, maybe it is referring to the fact that that's what Russians were once referred to as. | |

| Danse Russe appears to fall into two categories: 1) A poem by William Carlos Williams talking about his family sleeping and the narrator pondering himself dancing naked. Like most Williams poems, there's lots of different interpretations of the poem, most of which don't have much in common with this song. But it does talk about a man awake and seeing his love quietly asleep in a bed. 2) It's one of the movements in Tchaikosky's Swan Lake (or maybe the Nutcracker). The lead singer of Hurt is a fan of classical music, but I'm not real certain how this would relate to the song. Danse Russe is literally French for Russian Dance. | |

| BTW Kismet is Turkish for Fate, the line it is in is a huge reason why i love this band. I'm still pondering the meaning, What i can come up with is it is definatly about sex, possibly a short period with someone he really loves but for what every reason they can't be together for more then a short time, Possibly this woman is very independent and with no family (ala using the danse russe reffrence the more morbid one, and also how its about a man being a man ie she is a woman being a woman) he deffintly thinks very highly of her, and based on the his comment he met a very independent woman and had an amazing 2 day relationship with her. | |

| the translations pretty literal, but is it weird when i hear "tiny dancer" to think of a little doll or an exotic dancer of sorts. Is this girl his little doll? She says nothing while they're in bed. I find that interesting and I wonder why she's so quiet. maybe she isnt in love with him, and he is blindly in love with her. In his desperation he begs her to chase the ghosts and sins away from him. This album makes me think indefinitely. i love it. | |
