| Yes, indeed, based on "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri, a masterpiece made out of another masterpiece! | |

| One of the best Iced Earth songs period. An absolute epic that covers Dante's journy through hell. Yes, Schaffersmygod.. Jon went by the book on this one and got it perfect. | |

| http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiamat PureSophist, I think you're right. Although it says there's no clear text on what form Tiamat really takes. Oh well. But awesome song anyways. Iced Earth are amazing =D | |

| Most of the names chanted are either demon's names from Judeo-Christian mythology or other "well-known demon's names from other cultures. From memory I can remember Asmodeus, Mephisto and Be'elzebub. Tiamat is the goddess of chaos and the ocean in Sumerian mythos (and is also the name of a damn good gothic metal band ^^). Be'elzebub or "the lord of the flies" is a duke of hell (i.e. boss demon), as is Asmodeus. Mephisto (or Mephistopheles) is the "famous" demon from Faust. I have read the whole of the Divine Comedy, and Shaffer & associates got the feel down brilliantly. Well done Iced Earth. Another point, the three-headed dog's name IS Cerberus, not Cerebus. 1 2 Next | |

| ...based upon "the inferno" by dante, a medieval poet. the book actually goes through hell, purgatory, and heaven, but i've only gotten halfway through hell. it's pretty hard to stay interested in an epic poem translated from 14thC italian. anyway, what i really want to know is this: does anyone out there have the lyrics for the latin chanting that's going on in the background? it's at about the 14 minute mark, i think before the last verse. i'm taking latin (and no, i don;t know why. but, my sat scores were pretty nice) anyway, i want to translate it, and find out what they're saying | |

| Shamandown; I dont have those latin lyrics, but I do think that those are just some satanic mantra's, maybe not, but they would fit into the song. | |

| Hell, read Purgatorio and Paradiso while you're at it. They're all three exquisite, if you've the patience for it. And the song is a sixteen and a half minute long aural orgasm, I swear. | |

| Actually the chanting isn't Latin or from any Satanic mantra, it's just some gibberish Jon made up because he wanted some chanting that sounded evil. Even though it doesn't mean anything it certainly does sound evil. | |
