| the whole trilogy is pretty obvious as to what it's about. no aliens. it's about a species, doesn't give them a name, but they inhabited earth long before humans ever did. man came, and killed most of them off. they've disguised themselves, trying to fit in, waiting for the "chosen" one to be born. in the coming curse, the chosen one was born, and has come to take back what was rightfully theirs. | Paradox - I totally agree, and I don't think its neccessarily because Jon believes in those things, but I think it is more interesting to listen to. It brings out so many emotions that aren't in music that most people listen to. He uses these themes to make the music more thought-provoking, not to send his evil message about the end of the earth. Most of us only listen to the "good" side of music, as opposed to the bad, about happiness, love, and just plain good times. He delivers the other elements out - hate, death, greed. Take scary movies for example. Most people like scary movies more than happy/romantic movies just because they have the darkness factor that many of us aren't familiar with. Like I said earlier, I don't think Jon neccessarily believes in these things, he just wants us to get away from the traditional songs and bring out some emotions that go along with it. | |

| I don't necesarily think that that line "alien to us, the spieces known as man" means aliens the way you are thinking of them, ID4 and all. I think it means that we, mankind as it exists today, are the aliens. I don't have all the answers though, and very well might be wrong, but most will probably be cleared up with the release of the Something Wicked concept album in 2005. I completely agree IEF. There is more to life than just the soft and fluffy that music should reflect and I think Iced Earth does an excellent job of this. When you think about it, apocalypses are pretty epic and that makes them great for concept albums. | |
