Ima Robot is a rock band based in Los Angeles that formed in the early 2000s. The band's vocalist, Alex Ebert, originally wanted to be a rapper before becoming a singer. The band's other original members were Timmy the Terror, Oligee, Justin Meldal-Johnson, and the prolific studio drummer Joey Waronker. Meldal-Johnson and Waronker were sought-after musicians who had played with Beck before joining Ima Robot. The band had tough times and money issues before they signed a record deal with Virgin Records. Their first full length album was self-titled Ima Robot and featured the single "Dynomite". The band has toured with Hot Hot Heat. Waronker and Oligee have since left the band. The band's song "A is For Action" was featured on the game SSX3.
