| um. you gotta be kidding me. this song is not racist at all guys. its talking about someone who has to make a decision, and between black and white there is no in between, meaning you cant have both ways, cant get everything and cuteven. and that by refusing to make a decision, that person cuts him/herself off from the others. i dont see racism here guys. maybe just not very good lyrics. only nobodies would twist what others say to bring them down. losers. long live in flames. | |

| This is a very race-specific song. Line by line: I am one with the world tonight. I am proud to be this far from you. - Meaning he feels that he and his kind are in harmony with nature, and he is proud to be unlike the more primitive races. You say that you have no regrets, but I know that you do. - In reference to whites who have abandoned their own kind for the multiculturalist view of the mass media. You told me someone stole the eye. I know him too. - This could be a reference to the blue eye's gene being lost through miscegenation, or perhaps the eye of white people has been stolen and they have been blinded to what they are doing to themselves. I’ve come to the conclusion - yes, I know. That between black and white, there is no room for two. - Self-explanatory: separation is necessary. The scale might be wide, but there is no need to be blind. - Don't bicker; be reasonable. You claim that you are innocent, but tell me who ain't. - Either we're all innocent victims who have been blinded, or no one is really innocent anymore. You think that you’re going to be saved. There’s no such thing as a saint. - You have to fight for yourself, because no one is going to do it for you. (Black and white! Nothing in between Black and white! Nothing is what it seems) - It's either white or it's not. End of story. Gray = black. | |

| I have to say that this song is not about race. I also think that it is about opposites, either right and wrong or just plain one person not liking another without compromise or agreement; "I leave all of the grey behind." | |

| You could easily think that black&white would be a song bout races, but sometimes, or even often, the things ain't that black&white:P.. In my opinion that'd be too simple, I think the song really is about difference, not about skincolor.. Partly becouse I want to belive it tho.. | |

| this is one of the best songs on the new album.. i just think this song, along with most of the others from Reroute to Remain would be a lot better if you could actually hear the vocals, and the recording quality wasnt so crappy... | |

| i agree with Drav that I too, don't see racial intentions. I just listened to the song again and i get no feeling of that. I get the feeling that the song is about a differnt in ideas, not in the diffence of skin color. Merly because it says "black and white" in the song, doesn't mean its abotu black and white people ;).. i've played games called black and white, and its not about racism ;). But anyways, as i was saying, Hannible does offer some good support for the argument, and i respect, but disagree with it ;). The songseems to empahize that in life, there is no gray area in the desciosions we make. You cannot say that, for example, underage drinking is kindda good, but kindda bad. This song would suggest that It is either 100% good, or 100% bad, there is no inbetween. I got a feeling that the song is about choises... let me elaborate "I am one with the world tonight. I am proud to be this far from you. " - Writers of the romantic period (1800ishy) often wrote about the purity of nature, and curroption of society. From my listenings of In Flames, i have concluded that they have a tendancy to say some romantic things bout the curroption of socity. SOOOO, that aside, i can now continue- In flames looks at nature and realizes how rigth it is, but then when they look towards socity, they realize that it is bad, and they are happy to be seperated from it 'tonight' "You say that you have no regrets, but I know that you do. " - SImply put, have you ever felt guilty? Even if you say you havn't? Stop lieing to yourself, and come to the realiziation that what you do make choises everyday, and they are good, or bad, there is no middle ground. "You claim that you are innocent, but tell me who ain't. " This, i hear, as being kind of sarcastic. You say that your motives are good, but then again, show me 1 person who would do something bad and then claim it good. Basicly, everyone can claim to be innocent. Well i've said enough i think, it might not be 100% consistant, but oh well ;)... | |

| this isn't about separating... you notice how it says I am one with the world... we're all equal... just because he says BETWEEN black and white, there is no room for two, doesn't mean that one has to go... its in the middle... Black and White... one race... not a mix (grey)... we're all different, but we're equal... also, sure, we say that we're this and that... but really, we're equal... no matter how hard we try to be better... " you say that you have no regrets, but I know that you do.." ... this means that even tho we say or do racist things... we feel bad about it... we feel guilty for separating in the past... | |

| You dumbfucks, the song has nothing to do with race. The line "between black and white there is no room for two" refers to how that some things are either right or wrong and there is nothing in-between. | |
