I can really relate to this song, because I'm in a situation quite similiar to the one, which I think is dicribed here. I think, all of you pretty much got the point, but in my opinion, the writer isnt just frustrated and in pain. He's also happy to have met this special person in his life, that kept him from drowning in those "waters deep", that finished his sentence. I even think, that he's happy to feel suffering for the first time in his life (I know thats how I felt) because it makes you realize, that you are not the frozen loveless person you allways thought you would be. The fact, that he does not display hate or anger for her lover is an indicator for the deepnes of his love. It is a real love and a true one. And that means to minimize your own needs in order to keep someone you love happy. Even if it means pain to you. But I'ts a good feeling after all, allthough you wish and pray everyday that she might fall in love with you sometime (Or maybe in another lifetime), you still can look into your eyes in the mirror and say, yes, I did the right thing by not trying to destroy her relationship with the other guy.

i totally agree with RainbowDemon and Juggernaught about that... does anybody else feel identified with the lyrics of this band? these lyrics are so poetic and they talk about such normal things like meeting a girl who already has a bf, wishing her to cheat on him with you... dunno, almost all in flames lyrics make me things about those situations that almost all lived at least one time.

adrenalinne worded it well with the "I wish i could be your pain, something you wish you could run from, the way you are mine". and megadeth i relate in every same way. i think everyone who can realte to this song should look up "I died for you" by Iced Earth. very similiar song. let me ellaborate in my own words tho what this song ment to me: We were one in words You finished my sentences The answer to my puzzle I can never attract tomorrow It pushes me aside I sink in waters deep Your presence kept me floating Far from depths where secrets lie Maybe in another lifetime I could be the first you meet obviously the first verse gives away the FACT this is about a woman hes at least friends with, but cannot get closer. with the you finished my sentences and such and that you are the answers to my puzzle. like a jigsaw puzzle, she completes him. he cant look at or think about anything else because all that is on his mind is her. hes sinking because he cant have her, but just the fact that they are friends keeps him alive and he is not totaly shunned by her. and my favorite part of this song is the "Mabey in another lifetime i can be the first you meet" as in she could of meet him first so he could of had a shot, because she is already in love with somone else. if he got the first chance, she would of loved him. I once read a poem Held my breath But that moment's gone First time I felt life somewhat hurts Need an option and some hope i think this means, a poem as in, something beautiful, something he loved and it took his breath away and froze everything else in time. she was this poem. but now the moment is gone, because he realized she is not his to have, because she is already taken. i STRONGLY feel there is a comma in this "First time I felt life(,) somewhat hurts". listen to the song, there is most definantly a pause there. this is the first time he felt this way, the feeling of love is foreign to him, and it somewhat hurts. it hurts because love failed him, but he still in fact loves her and the pain is somewhat worth it. He needs a alternative to the way he feels, he needs a light in his world of darkness. Yell at me, i want to be your light that shines But my ground's shaking and I might fall I wish that I could say... I wish I could be your evil in a closet the yell at me part is hard to decipher the meaning. but i think he just wants to feel her intensity in w/e way he can. he just wants to be the light in her life, not this other person that she is in love with. his ground is shakeing just because she is there in his mind and his very being. her intesnity might be too much because he cant have her and he might fall. the final line i already said in the begining because everyone else parelled what i would of said anyway.

He is talking about a girl who understands him and they are pretty much perfect together: We were one in words You finished my sentences The answer to my puzzle Except, he is down on his luck because she is already involved with somebody else. But he doesn't care and just really wants to be with her. ...where secrets lie Maybe in another lifetime I could be the first you meet The first that she meets, so they could be together before the other guy asked her. he loves her. he wants to be her "skeleton in the closet" (also known as a secret) except he calls it evil because it is wrong I wish that I could say... I wish I could be your evil in a closet awesome song. I can relate..

BTW the song is « Need an option, a reason and some hope » and not « Need an option and some hope »

WE WERE ONE WITH WORDS YOU FINISHED MY SENTENCE This is someone that is a perfect fit "The answer to my puzzle". It is somebody that completes yourself so completely that they know everything about you. I believe it's about a woman. Some would call a person like this your soul mate. I CAN NEVER ATTRACT TOMORROW IT PUSHES ME ASIDE There is no future with this person. No matter how you think about it, it pushes you aside. I SINK IN WATERS DEEP YOUR PRESENCE KEPT ME FLOATING FAR FROM DEPTHS WHERE SECRETS LIE There is a dreadful feeling when you realize you cannot be with someone who would complete your life to completely. It makes you feel like your sinking. Just the thought of this special person keeps you floating. Brings you some happiness. The secret is his love for her. Her presence and their love are kept secret. Also that they want to be together must be kept secret. Having to keep something like this a secret is part of why he’s sinking. MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFETIME I COULD BE THE FIRST YOU MEET She has already given herself to another. Married with kids most likely. He grabs on to the only hope. Maybe in another lifetime. I ONCE READ A POEM HELD MY BREATH BUT THAT MOMENT'S GONE FIRST TIME I FELT LIFE SOMEWHAT HURTS NEED AN OPTION, A REASON AND SOME HOPE I have a feeling the poem is written by her. Perhaps it's not a written poem per say, but something she said. It had such an effect on him the entire world stopped for a brief moment. A perfect moment, but it's now gone. This realization leaves him searching for a reason to get past the current pain that he won't have a life full of happiness with her. Now he's in search of some way to get that happiness. An option (how can I be with her), a reason (it's not socially acceptable to be with someone who's married), and some hope (Life isn't worth living without her. He keeps the hope alive that’s maybe there’s still a way). If they were to meet in another lifetime, what's the point of this one? That is only a maybe thou. Not a certainty. YELL AT ME, I WANT TO BE YOUR LIGHT THAT SHINES The only reason I could think of her yelling at him is that she won’t leave her husband. Perhaps he feels she’ll yell at him if he brings it up. It's not all about him; it's about making her happy as well. Perhaps she is with someone she doesn’t love, and he wants to be her light and happiness in the world. BUT MY GROUND IS SHAKING AND I MIGHT FALL He is so unsure about what he should do. He knows he wants to be with her, but just can't with the circumstances. It’s becoming so much to deal with that he feels he might fall. That falling feeling of just giving up and completely breaking down with a loss so great. I WISH THAT I COULD SAY... I WISH THAT I COULD BE YOUR EVIL IN A CLOSET He wants to ask her to be with him anyway. To be her evil (it's considered wrong/evil to cheat in a marriage), in a closet (something you keep in a closet is a secret, not to be told as it could ruin your life.) Evil in a closet is not just a normal secret. Skeletons in a closet are things you absolutely don’t want to get out. They are secrets that ruin lives and destroy people. Combine this with the fact that the secret is something he feels so deeply that he doesn’t want to hold it inside, and you’ve got “First time I felt life somewhat hurts”. Evil in a Closet = Painful secret.

where did 'the answer to my puzzle' come from? I don't hear that anywhere :o) also, it's more like 'I need an option, a reason, and some hope' I think? I am suprised this song isn't on the radio and stuff, non metal-ish pop fans could listen to this easily?

I think it's about a guy who kind of fell in love with a girl but she was already in love with someone else. But I feel like she's tempted to be with him because that's what the evil in the closet is, the temptation for her to leave her lover. The thing that pointed this out to me was in that he says that in another life maybe he'd be the first to meet her. Maybe she would have chosen him if she had met him first.
