| "actually jesper did not have nothing to do with the lyrics here, the lyrics where collaborated by niklas sundin and anders friden in whoracle and in jester race.and in an interview sundin said that anders came up with the actual subject of the lyrics,he collaborated putting them in to words so anders does have the potential to write wonderful lyrics,i love this song exellent music and i do agree it wont be that great with out the lyrics." anders only came up with whoracle theme, he didn't write lyrics, and did absolutely nothing but sign on tjr 1 2 Next | |

| the moonshield- that's actually a pretty good thought... i never thought of that, but it'd make sense *nod* moonshield- sorry, i didn't know that, but i suppose it makes sense (i did know Anders Friden was the conceptualist for whoracle, however, and Sundin was the lyricist) they do sound like sundinoid lyrics... | |

| dest, Anders didn't write this. Jesper did. Anders started writing lyrics on Colony. Before it was either Jesper, or Nicklas Sundin from Dark Tranquillity who wrote it. | |

| This is my interpretation of this very tragic song by the best swedish band ever: "Tried of dull ages, I walk the same ground, collecting the tragedies still Hollow ambitions in a hollow mind carried my cross to the hill" he is tired of repeating the same routine everyday, walking the same roads every day. These things make him sad. He is filled with (presumably quite unrealistic) ambitions and dreams, which seem to go perpetually unfulfilled. This hurts him "And how I lust for the dance and the fire deep of the nectarine sunset to drink spill me the wind and its fire to steal of the colours - I´m the moonshield" Here we see his dreams and ambitions described poetically. He lusts for the "dance and the fire", and he wishes to drink of the "nectarine sunset"... Dance and the fire presumably means that he wishes to be in the spotlight, the center of attention, in the middle of the action, on stage. Nectarine is a fruit, and its shape and color might remind us of the sun.. He wishes to live each to the max, live life to the fullest, and watch the sun set every night . However, as things are now, he dosen't want the sun to set, he wants to fix his life and rectify his situation so that he might finally sleep in peace, without worrying about how his life is being wasted. He does not want to see the moon. So, he seeks the "Moonshield". in the next verse, things become much more dramatic: "Shattered hope became my guide and grief and pain my friends a brother pact in blood-ink penned declared my silent end" His goals and dreams were never fulfilled, he was left to rot in mediocrity and boredom. This very is also very beatiful and poetic: He signs a brother pact with his new friends (grief and pain) and signs it with his own blood. The signing of this "contract" leads to his fall, it "spells his end". "Naked and dying under worlds of silent stone reaching for the moonshield that once upon us shone" Now the song takes the next logical step. The singer is destroyed (he either dies, or at least his life is completely shattered and will probably end in suicide), and begs for the moonshield to shield him, so that he may reclaim wasted years. | |

| good job, the_moonshield! I never thought it could be so literal.. but I guess both out interpretations share common ground in what the song actually stands for. | |
