| I specifically like the line where he says We do the same thing every night I swear I've heard this song before A swimmer who has seen a shark I should really be more wary of the water I too agree that he was being used in some way and he remembers how it felt to be used by someone/anyone and he feels that way now. He claims that he should really be more wary of how deep he gets into situations like these. It sounds like a lamentation to all of us to beware of the "criminal" ...whomever it may be. | |

| Wow, well I came here hoping to be enlightened by you superior minds of the Internet, but I guess nobody really put much thought into this song at all. Of course, I see (hear?) everything through my own, decidedly not rose-tinted haze, but I think I have at least *something* to offer to this discussion. First of all, it seems like this is definitely a song about an inequal relationship-- lover, friend, who knows? I would tend toward romantic relationship, especially with the reference to bed at the very beginning, but I'm not sure if it really matters in any case. The speaker is obviously expressing contempt for whoever's being spoken to, and to an extent himself as well ("A swimmer who has seen a shark/ I should really be more wary of the water"), and I want to say this is a song of disillusionment and goodbye ("Today, I walk/ There's nothing here left for me but empty promises/ And the thought of all the things I'm never getting back"). He's been hurt, and he's not going to deal with it anymore-- he's leaving, still almost incredulous in his question to her: "Did you think I wouldn't notice?/ Did you really think I wouldn't care?" For some reason, for the longest time I interpreted the "You came, you saw, you conquered" as some guy getting totally O.O by some girl. "And I'm left here bleeding/ Oh, what went wrong?" (He thought everything was going to work out, but it didn't) "Yeah, I'm down/ But not out, and far from done/ Hey all! Beware Criminal" As a final gesture, he's trying to warn people away from this person who did him wrong. p.s. dusk_view, i don't know what the hell you're talking about, and I'm not sure if you do either. In the lines you quoted, he's obviously not talking literally-- especially here: "You stole my glow, a seasoned thief". He means she stole his heart, or if it's about a friendship, just maybe his trust. p.p.s. I think he's still partway in love with her-- he's not *just* realizing that she's "not going anywhere", he's known this for a while, but she's still "beautiful." wow i went on forever. this was entertaining. | |

| I think it's a song about someone who is pretty on the outside and empty on the inside. This kind of person generally has very little to offer in a relationship except for sexual gratification. Because of this it's not uncommon to find this kind of partner screwing around with your friends because sex is really all they have to offer the world. | |

| i dunno... this song screams con-artist to me...like the lines: ...You stole my glow, a seasoned thief... ...There's nothing here left for me but empty promises, And the thought of all the things I'm never getting back... ...You came, you saw, you conquered... plus...D'OH...beware! criminal lol like hes been cheated on or she stole his heart and maybe some of his cash and he admits shes sexy but knows shes not interested. or maybe about a girl who's easy...like shes knows she can have anyone she wants but wont settle and plays them all for what she wants be it sex / money / a place to sleep. whatever...im open to suggestions. | |

| She's (assuming he is talking about a girl) a wild ride, entrancing, but not ever going anywhere in life; just floats around, and treats him bad because she knows she has the power to do so - but he's finally coming wise, and 'walking'. | |
