Will I ever get to where I'm going? -- (I get the feeling brandon feels he is moving towards death, not toward an objective, feeling like Sisifus in his myth... Lifting the rock up to the mounting when he knows the rock will eventually fall again and he will have to lift it up again.) Will I ever follow through with what I had planned. --(He realizes that whatever he has planned before is not important for him in the new moment, and whatever he plans in that moment will not be important for him in the future.) I guess it's possible that I have been a bit distracted --( With nowhere to go, doing just mundane things, he is trying to focus and see what he hasn't seen before, he wants to find a target, a worthy taget. This distractions can be friends, school, work, whatever you can think of except getting to know yourself trully... Fundamental in budism, get rid of all the links you to everything external from you) and the directions for me are a lot less in demand. --(I reemphazise that his past ambitions are not important for him anymore...) Will I ever get to where I'm going? If I do, will I know when I am there?--(Because he doesn't know where life will take him, or if his plans for life will eventually become true and take him where he wants to be... he asks himself if he will know when he is there... obviously not, death is our only destiny, in death, you do not think, he will never know when he is there because he is going to be dead... He asks this question maybe because he doubts about the existance of something beyond life.) If the wind blew me in the right direction would I even care? --( Whatever he does in life will take him somewhere in a moment, that moment will be lost for ever, exactly like this moment right now, when you are reading this... He knows he would care about that precise moment, he wants to live the present, forgetting the past and future which are just imagination.) I would. I take a look around; it's evident the scene has changed. (I reemphazise that his past ambitions and plans are not very important in the future. Because he is in constant change.) And there are times when I feel improved upon the past. --(See what i mean?) Then there are times when I can't seem to understand at all and yes it seems as though I'm going nowhere... really fucking fast.( The myth of sisifus- Albert Camus... Jose reads Camus, he says it on the MTV CRIBS show, they are existencialists, I believe Brandon is too... They don't care about you reading this, understanding it, and they don't care about me explaining it to you... They just care about their life, by singing about it they expect to explain somehow their philosophy which is really just their interpretation of Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Camus and Fromm)

We've been exploring drum-'n'-bass here and there on stage, playing little improvisational ditties in between real songs from the records. José would start playing a drum-'n'-bass he'd made up, I'd play my didgeridoo to it, and songs started forming out of live things like that. That's how "Nowhere Fast" was written, through improvisational live jams. ~Brandon Boyd

It's sooo great to listen to when you're reflecting on your life and wondering why you hate it. It's just like "grrr, I'm stuck here! going nowhere, fast!!" I loooooooooove it!!!!
