this song could go two ways for me: when his head starts to get big with all the fame they're getting, someone needs to bring him back down to earth, or it sounds like friendship during an addiction, and how he's going to need help getting over it. I know that's not what it's about, but being an addict myself it felt like it was hitting home.

For me this isn't Incubus' best song either, but it definitely jumped out at me after I went through Light Grenades for the very first time a week ago. Now the play count for "Dig" in my iTunes is far ahead of the other songs on the album. It's a beautiful song, it would be so perfect if we could all have a friend who would bring out the best in us and remind us of who we are when we get caught up in stuff. This song makes lots of different thoughts pop into my head, but it's also amazing to just listen to it and enjoy the sound of it without giving it much thought... I found this to be the case with all Incubus classics and this is yet another one of them. Love to see the boys are back in good form.

Their is an obvious friendship element to the song. Does anyone get the feeling the first verse is about 2 friends who accidently stepped over the 'friendship' line? 'We'll make a pact to never speak that word again, yes you are my friend'. Perhaps that word was Love?

My friend said that this song makes him want to shoot himself, but he loves it. Apparently he thinks this is a dark song. He said the notes, or key (on the guitar, he's a guitarist) are dark. I am apparently "such a drummer" because I disagree that this song is NOT dark. This song is very happy, and uplifting. The chorus is so powerful, and it's postive. "If I turn into another. Dig me up from under what is covering, the better part of me. Sing this song, Remind me that we'll always have each other. When everything else is gone" It's about friendship, all the way.

I love this song. It is has now become my bestfriends and my song. I think that the lyrics state it really clearly that no matter what happens, or one goes through or how they change, a strong friendship will remain.....it's on my top 10 of Incubus now and I am a huge fan.

Awesome. Love this song. IMO: Staying true to yourself and your friends, sometimes with your friends' help (accountability). "We all have someone that digs at us, at least we dig each other."

I hesitate to say this, but it may be one of their best songs all time, although acoustic Pardon Me is tough to top.

this song makes me think of My Love.... i hear him telling about how theres always those things that make people react in ways completely unlike themselves. theres always someone out there that you hate, theres someone that gets to you, that makes you angry. and i hear a thankyou to the person who is keeping them from letting that darkside take over and keep them in line with the person they are. this person bring them back from their negativity by reassuring them of what is REAL . i dont think its the best incubus SONG, but probably the best incubus lyrics

this song is about how sometimes people are in wierd funks when they are really impulsive and sometimes do things they regret. i think he is trying to say that when this happens, he wants them to disregard it and just remember who he really is and how he is a better person than that. hes glad they dig each other man....but it could be about spooning...na

Its about changing who you are...its almost as if the writer wrote a letter to his friend asking him that if he changes or tries to act better than everyone else (So when weakness turns my ego up) he needs his friend to bring him back to the way he was (I know you'll count on the me from yesterday.). get rid of this new me and get me back to the way i was.(dig me up from under what is covering the better part of me.) always be there for me, even when nobody else is (remind me that we'll always have each other when everything else is gone.) basically this songs about friendship...thats what i think...

What a song! I'm thinking that its about the guys in the band always keeping each others feet on the ground and that they'll always be friends no matter what little things each does to bug or "dig" at another. I can see this song being a pretty damn successful single
