Someone's trapped in this world in which they are being someone they arent. They wont get out of that hell hole and experience reality and enjoy the many wonderful things life has instore for them. Someone wants to "crack their shell" so they will see that they can be excepted in life as well as everyone else. This someone knows that this trapped person has a true self hidden inside this "shell". They have seen that they have the potential to be a great person. They dont want to hurt this person by saying this to them, but they know its needed because they only want to help them out and let them be themselves for a change.

Brandon is dating a girl and the girl is closed to other ideas. However, he won't give up, and is encouraging him to take the blinders off her eyes to other perspectives.

its rumored that the song was written about dirk lance actually. apparantly there has always been tension between dirk and the band. i'm gonna miss him tho, he was a great bassist.

Yeah I read that in an interview. They didn't come out and say it, but they alluded to it. The people who posted earlier got it pretty much right, except it wasn't about a girl, it was about their bassist. I wonder if Dirk knew that when he was playing in though, or if Brandon pretended it was about someone else.. hehe.

i agree that this song is about dirk. i can kinda tell how it can be about a girl though, when you first listen to it. after a while though, when you learn a little more about the band, it kicks in. kick ass bass player though.

I recieved a letter from a best friend/admirer about this song relating to our relationship and well heres what he wrote... "... this song (glass) basically sums up everything ive been wanting to say to you lately. im tired of you always walking away from a conversation like nothing. you cant pretend that what ive said will just go away. i just want you to know that you shouldnt push away your friend if theyre just trying to be honest with you cause everything moves in circles..." .. this is one of mine and my friends favorite songs because we can relate to it ...(ive always accepted the truth, i just never liked to give a response so id walk away when my firend got his act together and had the "balls" to tell me that he "cared" for me)

Yes, I think it is about someone who does not want to see the truth. "TAKE THOSE F*CKING BLINDERS OFF YOUR EYES!!" Means that they only believe what they want to believe.

this song perfectly describes the relationship between me and a guy who used to be my best friend. it means that the person he wrote it about is extremely narrow minded and one sided about something or everything. he only sees things from one way, the way that makes him feel more comfortable with himself. for me it means that he really cares about the guy that is so narrow minded, but they guy just shuns him out and refuses to accept any appology or listen to anything he says because he is so sure that he is right. and how the person knows what he is saying is true "should i appologise, if what i say burns your ears and stains your eyes?" and the lines "through the cloudy glass we catch a glimpse of you" shows that sometimes this person is really cool and is fun to be around, but then he hides who he is with this ass hole charecter. the person is blind to the truth and refuses to see the situation for what it is.

im a straight bloke but when boyd sings this he gets so into it - so passionate about the music its really beautiful - i wish i was there or i could turn my emotions into such amasing music. Its a real shame that someone as deep as boyd coudnt find common ground with dirk - i guess they tried to. I also wondered if clean was about dirk biting his tongue, or even blood on the ground - but thats really violent - im sure the person who inspired it must have reallyticked brandon off. x.sweety.emo dont worry i think bens a good bloke - incubus are just a bit of a dust-cloud at the moment - bits all over the place - just wait for them to settle...adjust there'll be a beautiful picture on the sandy ground - lets hope brandon tries out his old edgy vocals again although i like some of the higher pitched stuff on southern girl etc - and id like to see some more intricate - deep lyrics rather than easy sing-along ballads.
