	Its primarely about the book. In BNW John does breafly meet his father, but not to say that Maiden doesnt put multiple meanings into their songs.

	the song is about steve's dad dying while he was on tour- a previous one obviously, because of the lines "Just for a second a glimpse of my father I see And in a movement he beckons to me And in a moment the memories are all that remain And all the wounds are reopening again"

	Something that people don't often discuss is what the music means to you. I'm not going to get into the meaning of the lyrics on this one because I do agree with Rebbal Ace on the multiple meanings point. The music of this song though inspires me and I could listen to it every day. It is clean and beautiful and played with such passion that you can't help but be moved by it. Live - it's awesome, listening to R in R, the final solo by Jannick rivals the haunting emotion of the first solo on Guns 'n Roses' November Rain. Brill' song. Or do you think I'm nuts?

	Personally, I see this song as being for all humanity, that everyone is of the same blood, that we're doing severe damage to ourselves, and to the world in which we live in one great community. Steve Harris' dad died while he was writing the X-Factor album, thats why the tone of that album is generally darker. I think we can all learn something from this song, I know I have. I could listen to this song on repeat, never get bored, because i repeat the images in my head.
