| It seems like it's about someone who's missing their life, home, family, but needs to know that he's living the best life possible on the road ("golden years"). And the song is written by Adrian Smith. | |

| The fact that the song is called 'wasted years' alone leads me to think that hes reflecting on his life as a musician and wondering what hes really getting out of all of it. If you think about a musicians career, once they leave home they generally don't have a home anymore. They go wherever the music takes them, which could be really depressing, I suppose. Think about knowing you don't really have any friends. Sure, you're famous, but who really knows who you are? Anyway, heres my evaluation of the song. I think the first verse is just basically saying hes been traveling so much, been to so many places, that he just doesn't know whats going on anymore, or who he himself has become. The chorus is interesting. I think it kinda proves my point, but I'm sure others view it completely differently. Hes thinking of his home, thinking of what he may be missing back there, and all that. Then the chorus flows right off of that last verse kinda saying "If you spend too much time reflecting on what you could've been doing, you'll miss out on your own life." The third verse could refer to anyone left behind. A lost love, mothers, fathers, friends, whatever. If it really is based on the perspective of ..that guys book, then it's possible hes thinking about the people he left in order to go to war in the first place. ..Thats what I think of the song. >_> Possibly overanalyzing. | |

| Anyone else think its funny how Bruce, Steve, and Nicko get their props (and rightfully so) but how Dave & Adrian are overlooked when talking about guitar greats? Both ranked very high in my book. 1 2 Next | |

| Think this song is talkin about him traveling all over the world and having an amazing time in the process, but its ahrd for him to fully enjoy himself because he misses someone back home. WOW tahts my fucking exact situation right now how ironic! and now i can see exactly where hes coming from! | |
