| This has to be one of my favorites. I agree with saminex on the best line "if i'm betting against you i'd rather loose" a close second is "blah blah blah" This song sounds like to ex's using each other to bounce back from a recent breakup. They are each other's "cocoon" Going back to what they know. It is one of those deals which they still love each but know will never work. I do get the feeling that he is into her a little bit more than she is into him. I think he just wants to keep things simple. | |

| I take this as a breakup song, and it's one of my favorites along with Song For the Dumped by Ben Folds Five. They show such different views on breaking up, and while BFF's is alot more fun, this one makes so much more sense. "I don't want to be your regret, I'd rather be your cocoon." It's such a good way of saying, "I hope you came out of this a better person," instead of "fuck you." | |

| this is like the sweetest song ever, i dont think its as much about a breakup (tho im probably alllll wrong) but about how he loves someone but they dont love him in the same way but are willing to go along with stuf... but he says well id rather not be your regret but your cocoon... and its like he just wants to wrap them up and take care of them so no one else can hurt them at all almost to the point of obsession. and the cause if im betting against you i think id rather lose is so sweet, its like he wont bet against this woman in case she loses... its just... aww. jack johnson is such a legend and this song is my favourite off "on and on". gotta love it | |

| i think its about 2 people that found each other after getting their hearts broken..they dont really love each other but they found something in each other they like..and use each other to "mend" their broken hearts..but they care about each other a great deal.. "well based on your smile im betting all of this might be over soon" like he knows her smiles and this one is fake..and their "relationship" will be over soon..he wants to give her everything..he doesnt want to be known as something she regretted being w/ but something that made her happy once..and now their hearts are confused once again | |

| I think this song is about a couple of relationships. The first one is a one sided relationship. He(I am a guy so I use "he") he likes her more then she like him and they both know that in a way. She came into the relationship with a broken heart(still stuck on her old boyfriend.) but he took realy good care of her and now she feels better and they both know she is ging to move on. Know he has a broken heart but he likes her so much he does'nt care he just wants her to be happy so he tells her to go ahead and go. And then I think he is making the point that it goes both ways somtimes with the guy and somtimes with the girl, but someone usually comes out more hurt. But in the end it is a happy ending because he finds a girl that is in the same position and they put there hearts together equally and they make a whole. Also I think he eludes to this kind of situation in flake. The girls mind is telling her she should be with him but her heart is somwhere else. Somewhere along the line I think jack got real hurt by a girl because so many of his songs are sad about a love lost. Well this is just what I think... one mans opinion. It is amazing how so many people can interpret a song a different way because they have experienced different things. | |

| i love love love this song. it is by far, besides Flake, jack johnson's best song. like wrapid, i think this is a breakup song, the ultimate "let's stay friends" way of going about it. it's just a way of saying "this isn't going to work out, but i'm still here for you, kind of like 'let's deal with this together.' "you said this was all you have and its all i need but blah blah because it fell apart and i guess its all you knew and all I had but now we only have only confused hearts i guess all we had is really all we need" This is him saying sure we may of had a good relationship, but oh well because obviously it's not working out. the "blah blah blah" part is just saying that they need to stop making excuses of why not to break up. they still need each other, but don't need to force a relationship. too bad all breakups aren't like this... :) | |

| Id really say that this song is about 2 people who are apart from each other, but still care deeply for each other, maybe in other relationships. I see this as a possitive song, two people wanting more from each other. Maybe the words im sooking for is Hoping and wanting. "but now we only have only confused hearts i guess all we had is really all we need so please lets take these broken hearts and use lets use only what we really need you know we only have so little so please take these broken hearts and leave" He speeks at the end, "Lets take our broken hearts and leave" I dont see that as a breakup, but as a joining of hearts. | |
