You win it's your show now, So what's it going to be?
B E C#m F#
cause people will tune in, How many train wrecks do we need to see?
B E C#m F#
Before we lose touch, And we thought this was low
B E C#m
Well it's bad, getting worse....
F# B E C#m
Where'd all the good people go?
F# B E C#m
I've been changing channels and I don't see them on the tv shows
F# B E C#m
Where'd all the good people go?
F# B E C#m F#
We've got heaps and heaps of what we sow
B E
They got this and that with a rattle a tat
C#m F#
Testing, one, two, man whatcha gonna do
B E
Bad news misused, got too much to lose
C#m F#
Give me some truth now, who's side are we on
B E C#m F#
Whatever you say, Turn on the boob tube, I'm in the mood to obey
B E C#m
So lead me astray, And by the way now...
F# B E C#m
Where'd all the good people go?
F# B E C#m
I've been changing channels and I don't see them on the tv shows
F# B E C#m
Where'd all the good people go?

| I seriously agree with Jack here. Where did all the good people go? This also goes with cookie jar- it seems like either the good people took drugs so much it killed them, or unfortunately like John Lennon, was killed by someone else. I agree with the people who say reality tv is a disgrace- what are we teaching the next generation? | |

| i am so glad that jack johnson uses his songs to make social commentary, someone needs to! this is one of my favorite songs on the new album. sadly, its really true how controlled we all are by various aspects of our lives, like television. people just dont think for themselves as much as they should be. | |

| it's about how the media controls are lives. so if someone in the media thinks it would be cool for people to act like sluts and thugs then there are about a thousand shows portraying this behavior making people think this is the way to live and that's what they do. thanks to Jack for writing a song that challenges stuff like that. too bad some people think that he's just the guy that did the curious george music | |

| I love the way there is a build up of intensity in his questioning of 'where did the good people go?' -- this shows his building frustration towards the way society is going due to media. True lyrical genious. | |

| This song represents why Jack Johnson is the epitome of cool, and why he would rather surf and hang out at the beach then fall for the trappings of American celebrity. On top of that ,the song is so pleasant and relaxing to listen to. This guy is really such a unique talent and person and this is my favorite of his new songs. | |

| not only is this song talking about how bad television, but it also says that it is "desensitizing the nation". Not only are we beginning to think what happens around us is okay (ex. date my mom) but it is making us indifferent to more important things around us. Everywhere we look there are horrible things happening but we don't notice because we have seen so much of it that it doesnt seem to matter anymore, we begin to think this is okay, its fine. | |

| This song was recorded in October 04. One month before the election. I think he is singing about how the news glorifies criminal behavior by publicizing all the murders, car chases, and all the bad things people do. I also believe he is commenting on the publics reaction to all this stuff. 20 years ago the public would have been outraged by all the rapes, child kidnapping, and even a shootout resulting in a death on live TV, I'm sure it happened but it wasn't all over the news like nowadays. This stuff goes on, but now it's no big deal. Finally I also believe he is stating the quality of television shows have really gone downhill when portraying good morals. But hey that's what we ask for by tuning in, it's regretable enough but I still refuse to miss one episode of "The Shield". Vic Mackey rules! | |
