Is it just me, or does this song really sound like U2's Vertigo? And it's older than the irish band's...

i think it's about how she was letting this guilty creature inside put all the blame on her, and then she realizes that that "her" is doomed (Consumed by hate and guilt She'll never retire too old to fix too dead to ever acquire slit wrists - talk shit But she will never inspire a plan to save herself the cinnamon spider) and decides to just be herself and ditch the guilt. That quote, by the way, is my favorite verse...it's just so...I don't know. I love it.

I feel like it's more of 'you' having to come to terms with the singer. Like, she's aware that she can be a bitch and hurt people who hurt her, but that's the way the world functions and you have to deal on your terms because she's found a place where she can reconcile her causing pain with the amount of pain she's endured. It's not that she thinks it's right, because she still hates the weakness that comes from being hurt, but it's the way things are…

I think the song could be about her, but maybe there's someone else involved too. Maybe she's warning them what will happen because it happened to her. *shrugs* I don't know.
