It's a combo of just the E,A,& B chords. Really pretty simple

Any additions, corrections, suggestions, e-mail me!

-----------------------------------
E
I sing myself to sleep
A B
A song from the darkest hour
E
Secrets I can't keep
A B
Inside of the day

E
I swing from high to deep
A B
Extreems of sweet and sour
E
Hope that God exists
A B
I hope I pray

E
Drawn by the under tow
A B
My life is outa' control
E A B
I believe this wave will bear my weight so let it flow

E
Oh sit down

Oh sit down

Oh sit down
A B
Sit down next to me
E A B
Sit down down down down down in sympathy

Now I relieved to hear
That you've been to some far out places
It's hard to carry on
When you feel all alone

The wisdom that I seek
Has been found in the strangest places
Feels a lot like love
That I feel for you

Now I've swung back down again
And it's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor

Oh sit down
Oh sit down
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down down down down down in sympathy

Those who feel a breath of saddness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by maddness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves rediculus

In love in fear in hate in tears
In love in fear in hate in tears
In love in fear in hate in tears
In love in fear in hate

Oh sit down
Oh sit down
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down down in sympathy.

Not really a fan of this song but the following line is very powerful, especially in this 'material' age we live in. : 'If I hadnt seen such riches I could live with being poor' We always want more??

the verse after the first chorus is about drugs. you can tell it and the line 'in love, in fear, in hate and tears..' its about having mixed emotions but that it doesnt matter because everyones the same, whether they are rich or poor. in the end, it boils down to the same thing. tim booth is genius and you dont need me to tell you that 1

Possibly one of my favourite songs ever. I have a very vivid memory as a young kid of hearig it on top of the pops and instantly loving it.

this song is about love........this isn't about drugs at all. if he hadn't seen someone so beautiful he would be fine being without her.... Plenty of tunes are about drugs , not this one.

I think this is about an old LSD master comforting a novice in the ways of tripping and how to overcome the awkward feelings that a bad trip brings

Also: the facts behind this song are that Tim Booth, as a teenager, was feeling awful and depressed and then there were a couple of books (or was it songs? or poems?) that he read that made him feel like he wasn't going crazy, and that at least someone else knew what was going on with him. The song is really about that feeling of empathy, and "you're not alone".
