james blunt- 1973
all the lost souls.
i am sure these are the right chords.
you can play this with capo on 2nd fret but blunt plays it without a capo.
(it sounds better without a capo)
i saw james blunt play this song live about 10 feet from me and he picks for the first
chords then strums when he gets to the C.

| Even though it might be about a club, I agree with Berrieg. Knowing the he was born in 1974, I thought this was about his parents. Maybe they told him a story about how their relationship was before he was born, and as a tribute, he wrote a song about it. | |

| James Blunt says in an interview that he wrote this song about spending time with a friend at the nightclub Pacha... ... I had thought it was about his parents!!! | |

| I'd agree with that. But I also think that there are some people that for whatever reason, you leave parts of yourself with. Sounds like that was the most alive he'd ever felt. Definitely catchy. | |

| I'm really in love with this song. I think basically he's reminiscing about the past when him and "Simona" were together. In the song he says: "Wish I was sober So I could see clearly now The rain has gone" I think that part means he's regretting not appreciating how good the times were when they were together. This song's just to beautiful. Like Girlish Intentionz said, its makes you think about the past. | |

| This song makes me feel mixed feelings when I listen to it. I really listened to the lyrics once and I deducted it may be that James is telling the story of a time in his life that made him happy, maybe part of his teenage years or early twenties and he fell so deeply in love with a girl, maybe first love, and he can't forget her. He's reflecting on his life by saying, "I would call you up," and remembering his past. Maybe he still loves this girl, maybe not. He wonders what she is doing now, and thinks about the times they shared. I looked up the song "Here we go again," thinking it would be a song in that era, but I found nothing but Ray Charles. Maybe "Here we go again," is just what they said when they were driving and laughing. I have no clue what relevance this has to do with 1973... Anyways, I like this song. It's a good song to chill out to. Makes you think about the past. | |

| ok i am completely IN LOVE with this song the reason why is: my name is Simona!! haha :DDD this is the only song i know with my name in it. about the meaning, i know that james blunt wasn't even born in 1973, so it can't be him that he's talking about going to clubs. i read somewhere that it was abut his parents, but i don't know. maybe it means that he's stuck in the past, like a past relationship? | |

| I think it's about a guy who's stuck in the past. Like he can't get a past relationship out of his head. Catchy. | |

| Well, to refere to sikoriusz. maybe it's about the relationship between his parents. If he's born in 1974, then there's a good chance that he was "made" in 1973. It could be about a great day in the life between his father and mother. Maybe the day or around the day that Blunt's mother went pregnant. Maybe it's a bit far fetched, but no way that this song is a memory for Blunt to his life. | |

| Doherty200 is right, I'm afraid. Blunt spent a number of years in Ibiza, and fell in love with the clubbing scene. This song is a tribute to Pacha, his fav club there. For some reason, this tarnishes the song for me somewhat... Shame.... | |

| maybe its a fiction? everything you guys talked about made sense but what if 1973 is just a coincidence. Maybe Simona is made up or whatever and he's just telling a story. You have to agree that 1973 just sounds cooler than 1983, or 1965. So it could be used as a rhyme and rhythm device. I couldn't find anywhere on the internet what his parents names are so I don't know for sure. | |

| Do you guys also notice that "Here We Go Again" is a song that James sang as well! I also love the line "So I could see clearly now the rain has gone" just like Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" Great song... music video is awesome as well. Lots of feelings | |

| Its about nights out with friends and 1973 is a reference to the year his favourite club Pacha was opened. | |

| I also heard the story Rachel1309 has written about.. This may be lame but this is my theory, as he wasn't alive in 1973, that she's ignoring him.. He says: 'I guess I know this We seemed so strong We've been there and gone' That it's over, and he doesn't want it to be, and she's totally ignoring him in a club?! | |

| This song reminds me of something that I am currently going through.. My ex girlfriend and I had been going out for about 2 years (we are both each others first loves) and recently we broke up. But every weekend we still see each other in the same clubs and same parties. Every time this happens we will try to avoid each other but it will end up with one of us calling the other saying how much we miss each other. One thing leads to another and we end up spending the night together.. We havn't sung it, but the phrase "here we go again" is really relevant. Maybe James has gone through something pretty similar in the past.. Love the song :D 1 | |

| i've deffiently heard somewhere this about his parents simona blunt? and his dad. im not positive that simona is his moms name but i suppose it would make sense. it deffinetly isnt from james life. and james was born in 1974, so this could be a weird reference to the night he was concieved, but i doubt anyone would sing about that ha. but i really could be completely wrong and im ok with that(: | |
