I was at the jars of clay/jennifer knapp concert this month- the song was written about some friends who were getting married. Don't remember exactly, but right after getting engaged the woman was diagnosed with cancer. They got married and spent all 3 months of their marraige with her in the hospital and him by her side. I think the song was about their incredible love and their hope of being together in heaven, and how her memory wouldn't be lost. Thought that was an amazing story- talk about committment:-)

I'd really love to hear someone's thoughts on this one. I can see a lot of meanings behind this one. To me it kind of sounds like they're singing about letting go-as in the kind of letting go that takes place at death.

It's about how the husband "won't let her go" because he won't ever give up and he'll be with her in heaven someday. When he sees the angels he sees that all the promises of their faith, that they would live eternally in heaven, have become real. "shed your heart and your breath and your pain and fly" this is my favorite part, because it talks about how she is letting go of all the burdens of this life on earth and flying. Now she is truly alive, as alive as she could ever be.
