C#m x 4 6 6 5 4
C#m7 x 4 6 6 0 0
E 0 2 2 1 0 0
F#7sus x 9 11 11 0 0
F#7sus 2 4 4 4 0 0 ("Real" way: I like the previous version although
that's not quite the way it sounds on the album)
A(9) Bsus A(9)
I am the only one to blame for this
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
Somehow it all ends up the same
A(9) Bsus C#m7
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
I flew too high and like Icharus I collide
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
With a world I try so hard to leave behind
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
To rid myself of all but love, to give and die
A(9) Bsus A(9)
To turn away and not become
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
Another nail to pierce the skin of one who loves
A(9) Bsus C#m7
More deeply than the oceans, more abundant than the tears
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
Of a world embracing every heartache
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
Can I be the one to sacrifice
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
Or grip the spear and watch the blood and water flow
[Chorus]
C#m7
(To love you)
E A(9)
Take my world a - part
(To need you)
A(9) C#m7
I am on my knees
(To love you)
E A(9)
Take my world a - part
(To need you)
A(9) C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
Broken on my knees
A(9) Bsus A(9)
All said and done I stand alone
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
Amongst remains of a life I should not own
A(9) Bsus C#m7
It takes all I am to believe
A(9) Bsus F#7sus
In the mercy that covers me
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
Did you really have to die for me
C#m7 Bsus
All I am for all you are because what I need
A(9)
And what I believe are worlds apart
A(9)
And I pray
[Chorus]
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9)
On my knees
C#m
I look beyond the empty cross
B
Forgetting what my life has cost
A(9)
I wipe away the crimson stains
A(9)
And all the nails that still remain
C#m
More and more I need you now
B
I owe you more each passing hour
A(9)
The battle between grace and pride
A(9)
I gave up not so long ago
C#m
So steal my heart and take the pain
B
And wash the feet and cleanse my pride
A(9)
Take the selfish, take the weak
A(9)
And all the things I cannot hide
C#m
Take the beauty, take my tears
B
My sinful soiled heart, make it pure
A(9)
Take my world, it all is yours
A(9)
Take it now, take it now
C#m7 C#m7
To serve the ones that I despise (To love you)
E E A(9)
Speak the words I can't deny Take my world a - part
(To need you)
A(9)
And watch the world I used to know
A(9) A(9) C#m7
Fall to dust and blow away I am on my knees
(To love you)
C#m7
I look beyond the empty cross
E E A(9)
Forgetting what my life has cost Take my world a - part
(To need you)
A(9)
So wipe away the crimson stains
A(9) A(9) C#m7
And all the nails that still remain Broken on my knees
(To need you)
C#m7
And steal my heart and take the pain
Bsus
And take the selfish, take the weak
A(9) A(9)
And all the things I cannot hide (To need you)
A(9)
Take the beauty, take my tears
C#m7 C#m7
Take my world apart On my knees
(To need you)
Bsus
Take my world apart
A(9) A(9)
And I do pray (To need you)
A(9)
And I pray, and I pray
C#m7 Bsus A(9) A(9) C#m7
Take my world apart On my knees
A(9) Bsus A(9)
My worlds apart

| Awesome song. I think the lyrics go "fall to dust and blow away" though. At least, it sounds like it and makes sense. | |

| The melody on this and every other Jars Of Clay song is awsome, the harmonies are really really pretty, the guitar is awsome as usualy and the lyrics are to good to even explain, this has to be the most broken songs ever, broken as in admitting they are a sinner and just exposing themself to the good lord. If you haven't heard the StringTown Version I suggest you either download it or get the album because they play it so awsome live. When i heard it done live I started to cry because i was doing some stuff i shouldn't have been involved in, and this song honestly ripped my life apart. Rory | |

| It totally inspires me to have god live through me, abandoning selfish desires or hopes. It speaks of giving the good, the bad, the everything to God. Than and only then can he take your world apart and put something more beautiful than you can imagine in its place. | |

| I think this song is also about separating ourselves as Christians from the world. In the world but not of it.. sometimes we forget that and we need him to take our worlds apart, as in the two spiritual worlds. hope that's not too deep.. 1 2 Next | |

| i'm sorry i have to disagree about the best JOC song, which i prefer to be Needful Hands, yet this is a definite second Take my world apart. This song is simply a prayer unto the Lord. I think almost everyone previous brings us the key points in abandoning what we are, and making ourselves vessels for His love to abound in. I can imagine a jigsaw puzzle that shows who we are. From the beginning, sin had confused us, scattering pieces and nothing complete. Yet, when we ask him to take us apart, and remake us, God pieces together the puzzle, piece by piece, showing the picture more and more with each new piece. | |

| This is my favorite song too. However I believe the line is "dull the nails IT still remains" meaning that no matter what we do we can't escape our salvation (the "crimson stains") anyway that's what i think it says. | |
