CHORUS
Everytime I make a run, girl you turn around and cry
I ask myself, why o' why
See you must understand, I can't work a 9 to 5
So I'll be gone, till november
Said I'll be gone till november I'll gone till november
Yo tell my girl yo I'll be gone till november
I'll be gone till november I'll be gone till november
Yo tell my girl yo I'll be gone till november
January, February, March April May
I see you cryin', but girl I can't stay
I'll be gone till november I'll be gone till november
And give a kiss to my mother
VERSE 1
Girl I gotta leave, please don't cry
When I come back you know the limit's the sky
I'll take you out to dinner to your favorite spot
Feed you an aphrodisiac just to get you high
Drive by movies, by the cemetary
If my corpse could talk then I would tell you I was sorry
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Some die with the name some die nameless
CHORUS
VERSE 2
Yeah mon, I had to do somethin' so I'm knockin' on Heaven's door
Like a Bob Dylan
Never contemplatin', the charges that I'm facin'
My newborn son I hope I see his graduation
Take him to a movie, by the cemetary
If my corpse could talk then I would tell him I was sorry
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Some die with the name some die nameless
CHORUS

| "I dedicate this record, 'The Carnival' to all you brothers..." Lewisi, the actual album this song is on is titled "The Carnival". So no, he's not talking about carnival cruise line. | |

| Good lord. I'm shocked there are people that have actually listened to this song enough to want to post here that don't realize that the song is not about a cruise line, or about going on tour. Its about drug running. Period | |

| First of all, amazing song. Wellreally is correct about what the song is about. I do believe however that the lyrics says "Hip Hop turns to the future of rock when I smash a pumpkin". Get it? | |

| The song is not about going on tour -- it's about drug running. The point of view is the drug runner. He's talking to the people in his life and explaining why he has to do this for a living. It's not meant to be uplifting, because even though he promises he'll be back in November, there's still that reference in the opening to other runners who don't come back. It's depressing, because this guy might end up being one of them. | |

| I think this song is about how upset Wyclef's girlfriend/family are when he has to go away on tour. He says "I can't work a 9 to 5," so he is saying I'm not like other people who work day jobs, I'm an artist and I have to go out and perform. He has written this song for women missings their husbands and boyfriends. Overall, it sends an uplifting message, in November I'll be back. | |

| The song can mean different things to diff people- I see it as a drug dealer talking to his family and whatever, but then there are lots of parts that remind me of someone going into the army. Crazay- Wyclef is awesome. | |

| he says he dedicates the song to carnival. anyone think he might mean carnival cruise lines. like having to leave during the summer months to work and coming back during the off season. Just a guess probly wrong but who knows. and if he did mean that i think he might of meant the metaphor of having to be gone for months. not him actually working on a cruise line. | |
