Em D
I hope you remember me
Am
I was your daddy once
Em D Am
Wearing the sailor cap and dirty nails
Em D Am
To you I'm just a picture on your mother's mantlepiece
Em D Am
Who chose to fight the good fight in time to fail
G
Into battle
D
And in your shadow
C D#dim7 Em Em/D#
Your daddy loves you still
Em/D Em/C# C G D/F#
Yes I do
I never thought it'd be so hard to see you grow so fast
And turn into the man I used to be
But I hope you have more sense than I in matters such as these
Medals don't mean shit when a family is so lost at sea
Into battle
And in your shadow
Your daddy loves you still
Yes he does
Yes he does
E D
I save every moment I've reached out and almost touched you
E D
But they all fade away must be a bad memory

| I think it's about a sailor/soilder who died at sea, he then sings as a ghost to his son who is following in his footsteps, meh, i discovered this band a year ago and it feels like i'm the only person in my country who knows who they are lol, so i have noone to discuss them with. | |

| Undertakerpt I agree, nobody knows who this band is other than us I guess. I like them. I actually heard of them from Nick Hexum. Anyways, I think you are right about how this guy was once a soldier. I think he may be looking down at his son from heaven. His son is about to go to war and abandon his family to fight for his country. But his Dad is looking down and saying that your family is more important. He thinks his son should stay with his family instead of fighting some lame war. 1 | |
