High School by Jeremy Fisher
A D E (x4)
A D E
bubble gum and house parties when you stole your parent’s rum
A D E
and tried to screw everything that could breathe
A D E
back in high school we didn’t have a whole lot to do
A D E
we watched the world go by on the television screen
A D E
said it's the 90's kids that’s way out this is way in
A D E
go beat each other up on the dance floor
A D E
told us drugs were no good but then we smoked 'em and liked 'em
A D E
so much that we smoked a little more
E A D E
we liked 'em so much that we smoked a little more
A D
then I call your name
E A D E
did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
A D E A
your so the same but your so different
D E
I didn't recognize you
A D E
it's kinda hard with all that sexual confusion
A D E
sometimes you don't know if you’re gay or straight
A D E
but what’s the difference it’s a wonderful illusion
A D E
most times you won't make it past second base
A D E
I'm in a band we kinda suck but we don't know it yet
A D E
and I don't care anyway
A D E
cuz soon I’m gonna sell these drums, pay my rent, support my kid
A D E
and tell him all about way back in daddy's day
A D E
I’ll tell him all about way back in daddy's day
A D
then I call your name
E A D E
did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
A D E A
your so the same but your so different
D E
I didn't recognize you
A D E (6x)
A D E
some years later by a soda coolerator
A D E
in a corner store back in my home town
A D E
this stranger smiles at me, said "remember the class of '93?"
A D E
and for some reason it makes him look real proud
A D E
after all the good times he said we had he looks at me, scratches his head
A D E
and asked me where the hell I have went
A D E
and the funny thing is that I never even knew him but he coulda been
A D E
any one of my high school friends
A D
then I call your name
E A D E
did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you?
A D E A
your so the same but your so different
D E
I didn't recognize you
A D E
then I call you name
A D E
singin' that song that I wrote for you
A D E
singin' that song I wrote for you
A D E
just singin' that song that I wrote for you
A D E (4x)

| I read in an interview that he did, that this song is part truth, part fiction. He was class of '95 :P | |

| I love this song. I swear, it sounds as if he is channeling Spingsteen, circa 1972. Great stuff. | |
