| aluminumbanana is right. Cameron said in the November issue of Guitar World that Timothy is about his older brother who died when he was very young. Then he said he told Chris about it and Chris decided to write a song about it. There you go. | |

| i didn't sleep for four hours last night listening to this song... i also thought about drugs... but then i thought that it could be a baby dying, because it says missed your photo/missed your birthday too, and it also says never used your legs i'm thinking he died before many pics were taken of him, and he never learned to walk, and he hadn't had a birthday either. Its my fav song on the album.the one line that I don't get is the boy can throw, help me! | |

| I think I read somewhere that Timothy is dedicated to Cameron Muncey's brother, who died when he was a baby. I'm not sure where I read that, but looking at the lyrics, it looks pretty probable to me. ("Timothy, I took your place." "Never used your head/To find out what this whole thing meant." "Timothy where have you been?" "Never used your legs/To walk around in this whole big mess." "She cried in the kitchen/To let you go.") Could be wrong, though! | |

| ok...here is my opinion. i think it's about suicide and denying it at the same time. lines like "did it hurt when you hit the ground?" tie in with that, which is also connected to the spaceship. like he tried to fly but fell instead sort of metaphor. and never using his head to figure out what this whole thing meant...like he's just searching for a reason to life and failed at that too. the whole "timothy where have you been?" sort of seemed like the singer denying he's gone...yeah maybe... | |

| hi people ... i live in australia so i read lots of stuff about jet, i'm a big fan and yes the song is about cam's brother, he died of cott death, i think the song is sung by the drummer . .. the lead singer NICK, and the drummerCHRIS, are brothers and they have been friend with cam for along time so it means alot to them too. | |

| The song is about a suicide, most likely drug OD. When you're high on drugs you feel like you're flying, hence the spaceship, but wot goes up must come down, and after the high there is a low, in Timothy's case, he hit rock bottom. The person crying in the kitchen could be his mum, and asking 'where have you been?' may be the imaginary place your mind is when you're high, and 'where did you go?' could be where his soul lies now. Unless someone asks the boys from Jet, i guess we'll never be sure...? | |

| I think this song is bout a boy who committed suicide I no all u guys r thinkin its about cam's brother, and on one level maybe it is But i think it is clearer when you look at it from a friend's perspective He "missed your photo/missed your birthday too" because now his friend's dead The "spaceship" is either the needle or the gun he killed himself with "Never used your legs To walk around in this whole big mess" and "Never used your head To find out what this whole thing meant" Refer to the friend's inability to cope with life and how they couldn't look at life realistically and say "it'll get better soon" or somethin optimistic like that "She cried in the kitchen to let you go" is the mom of Timothy crying to God to let her child go luv this song, best on the album hands down | |

| Ok I read this in my friend's copy of Guitar World (woot go Claire! lol)... Timothy was written by Chris (the drummer) and it's about Cam's older brother who died when he(Timothy) was 3 and Cam was just a baby. That line where it says 'The boy can throw' is because Timothy wasn't even old enough to throw a ball which (in Cam's words) is 'f-ing depressing'... Anyways hope I've cleared that up.... wrok on \m/ | |

| this song means a lot to me, my boyfriend's name was timothy, he was killed in a car crash 3 months ago, he loved this song [coz it was his name!] and i've kept in contact with one of his older brothers, and he says that in a way he's had to fill tim's shoes, and that the other older brother has started showing more 'tim-like' qualities, therefore taking tim's place... so yeah, its a really special song, i also reckon it's about cam's brother [am also from australia and LOVE jet!!] | |
