as much as you might be right about the racism and trivializing others as a bunch of symbols is correct, renemy, I feel that it is more about swallowing what a former generation trying to instill in the next generation. more specifically WWII and post-WWII. and after watching that youtube video and noticing he says this song is a religious number is kinda confusing. i feel that the reason for calling this song that is b/c he poses a counter-religious view to the post WWII era. therefore noting the former generation's way of life and history lessons of war a religious experience that all American youth should embrace.

i don't understand how a person can know bukowski and not know john lennon, or who lenin is but not how to spell it.

I have no idea what this song means, but the line "Good French collaborator/We heard you make great waiters" is hilarious to me. Bukowski_Punk: Get YOUR facts straight. Lenin was a revolutionary. Lennon was John Lennon, of Beatles fame. Yeah, I know they're obscure, but...they existed. And it does kinda remind me of I Am The Walrus. It's just kinda stream-of-consciousness, like Come Together too.

I don't understand this song at all. What would be good right here; some yellow? What does that mean!? If anyone knows, I'd love to hear an explanation. Or, maybe it's about nothing. Lennon did a lot of songs like that (remember I Am the Walrus?).

You morons! This song is about racism and trivialising "others" as a bunch of symbols. Yellow is asians and would be a nice, inoffensive touch here. They're telling Germans to not be so German. The French (all of them) make great waiters we hear. No fingerprints, no proper names for any of them, just what can they do for us. This is the attitude of the Daughters of the Revolution (snobs). The war heroes hate peace time because what they did to become heroes (killing asians and germans) is not a bragable thing anymore.

I Am The Walrus and Come Together were about the whole Paul is Dead thing. Drug slang is a big hint into what the song may be about. And the line in "Mid-Day" off of Four Cornered Night has to do with waiters and dope, but that's just my observation.

I really can make absolutly no claim about to my estimated meaning of this song but I was listening to it live on youtube and when he introduces it he says that is it "a religious number," which just baffles me all the more. you can check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLB-viC3ENo

no, ive never heard of i am the walrus. lennon was a communist leader in russia, my friend. get your facts straight :P yellow perhaps symbolizes humility.. theres a lot of food/restaurant imagery here. i dunno though. its probably about more than one thing. great song tho.

I've almost convinced myself this song is about some type of drug. erowid shows some close matchs for lemon, yellow, and black as drug slang. "no aftertaste no residue chop chop you're throug" really sounds llike some drug talk. "chop chop....." then the "pick it up prick up the usual amount / no fingerprints no proper names" line that really sounds like a drug deal. mabye the song is about how drugs would be good at the moment? just a guess.

I think the yellow might mean happy? I don't know. This is my friend favourite song on this album but it doesn't do so much for me. However this song is what prompted me to come to this site because the whole yellow thing was buggin him and I thought I could try and find out what it meant.

There a few references to the Viechy French collaberators during World War II, " Good French Collaberator", "Don't be so German". Yellow is the color of cowardice and that is what those French were tragically notorious for. I think he is giving light to the mind set of the collaberators just giving up and making the best of it was so much easier than the Russinans "daughters of the revolution freezing in your furs" fighting the bitter fight on the eastern front. But in the end once the allies liberated France atrocities were actually carried out against the former collaberators by the French who resisted. Just my take on the song.

thanks emokid for always posting correct lyrics! plosion, In my opinion I think he's talking about a painting when he says 'do you know what would be good right here? some yellow' and the yellow symbolizes something. blakes into painting, but who knows.
