itsALLprogramMUSIC, Tori does notwant to have sex with Jesus... Some of her songs (which you must be referring to) are from Mary Magdalene's point of view. And this song is really beautiful. It's definately about love and sex and all that good stuff.

Obviously it's about love. Snickershell quote says something very much like sex. Not to mention that she says "boy" And if any of you actually LISTEN to Jewel, she describes love (between her and her lover) with this kind of passion all the time. A song like this does not go to God.

oh no? Noa08? Try listening to the song "Icicle" again, and listening to the interviews regarding it. Tori amos has had a crush on Jesus since she was a little girl, and use to masturbate thinking about him. Yep. She admits it. Really. Totally. She loves Mary Magdalen, and she writes from her point of view, but she's always been into the sex w/the prince of peace thing.... back to the issue at hand. I think this song made a LOVELY wedding song. How could it not? Lot's of Eros, lot's of "I'm ready, i'm not afraid anymore...let's love" 1

Jewel is a very spiritual person, she isn't waiting for an actual person, shes expressing how much she needs the Lord and is giving her life to Him because she is not afraid anymore. It is apparant in the chorus, " I want you, I need you, be here with me, I have no fear". Also in the verses, she states that her life is nothing without him.

Yup, this is what a consider a perfect pop ballad. It's awash with emotion; longing, acceptance, hope...

I dunno. Tori Amos says she wants to have sex with Jesus... maybe people do want to get down and dirty with God. All those Brides of Christ. We know what that's really about...perverts... (BWAHAHA) OK, wow, that was really blasphemous. I mean, if I were a christian.

I don't think you'd feel that way if you were ever in love...

i feel that this song is about some sort of higher being and needing to find comfort and security in something bigger than ourselves. To me, the words she uses are too strong and deep to be refering to a lover.

ok. this is really bugging me... the lyrics ARE: inside my skin, there is this place it twits and turns, it bleed and aches. Inside my heart, there's an empty room, It's waiting for lightning, it's waiting for you, and I am wanting I am needing you here inside the absence, of fear. Muscle and sinew, Velvet and stone, this vessel is haunted it creaks and moans. My bones call to you in thier seperate skin I make myself translucent to let you in for, I am wanting I am needing you here inside the absence of fear there is this hunger- this restlesness inside of me and it knows that you're no stranger You're my gravity. My hands will adore you through all darkness aim they will lay you out in the moonlight and re-invent your name for I am wanting I am needing you here, I need you near, inside the absence of fear. TADA! Now, I know it well. It was me and my husband's wedding song. (pause for the "aww's") And I disagree with Rachybabyheartyou (pause to smack forehead at thought of the name) Jewel is a self-procclaimed wiccan. She is not a christian, and yes- she is spiritual...but this song was about love. Earthly, human, romantic love...oh that and desire. She is speaking of the place inside herself where she lets her defenses down and gives in to loving and being loved completely. It's a hard place to get to, for anyone who's been there. It's a song of beautiful verse and phrasing.

OK BUCKO He wasn't wrong= those lyrics are completely accurate from an old ('97?)| recording I have. Yes, yours are right too from the album- that had PRINTED lyrics in it. Everyone's a winner. Wow, Jewel really does bring people together.

i would have to disagree on this particular song being a suitful wedding song. i would have to agree most with "princessariel56" above and how she thinks that shes waiting for a certain someone to take her away and make her feel safe.

This song seems to drew you in to it. Jewel's voice is haunting .. and luring. It's another wonderful song by a very gifted singer/songwriter.

I really don't see this song being about God or some other higher being. My hands will adore you Through all darkness, and they will Lay you out in moonlight And re-invent your name I find this lyric to be sexually related... something you'd do with a man, someone you love...If the way i find it is the way it is meant, then it's kinda sick to think that of God or a higher being.
