Hands by: Jewel
Em C
If I could tell the world just one thing
G D
It would be we're all okay
Em C
And not to worry because worry is wasteful
G D
And useless in times like these
Em C
I won't be made useless
G D
I won't be idle with dispair
Em C
I'll gather myself around my faith
G D
For light does the darkness most fear
(Chorus)
G C
My hands are small, I know
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
Em D Em
And I am never broken
C
Poverty stole your golden shoes
G D
It didn't steal your laughter
Em C
And heartache came to visit me
G D
But I knew it wasn't ever after
Em C
We'll fight, not out of spite
G D
For someone must stand up for what's right
Em C
'Cause where there's a man who has no voice
G D
There ours shall go singing
G C
My hands are small, I know
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
Em D G
And I am never broken
D C D G
In the end only kindness matters
D C D
In the end only kindness matters
Em C G D
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
Em C G D
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
Em C G D
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
G C
My hands are small, I know
G Am
But they're not yours they are my own
G Am
But they're not yours they are my own
Em D G
And I am never broken
C
My hands are small, I know
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
G Am
But they're not yours, they are my own
Em D
And I am never broken
Em D Em
We are never broken
C Em
We are God's eyes
C Em
God's hands

| I made the mistake of singing this song on the night of September 11th, 2001, at a karaoke club! I started getting teary, at the lyric "In the end, only kindness matters," I started getting teary. -By the time I had finished the song, nearly everybody in the club was crying (unless they were drunk). Now, everytime, I hear it I think of 9/11, and the old saying 'All gave some, and some gave all,' and how so how so many lives were lost, trying to save others' lives, -which is, by far, the biggest, greatest, act of kindness in the universe. Jewel rocks! | |

| i think the song's just about when you're thinking you're in trouble and the world is a terrible place and tragedy has struck... she's saying you can always do something, however small your hands are, and 'in the end only kindness matters'. | |

| I think this song means that we are in charge of the world. Of what happens, of what doesn't happen. Like in the part that says "We are God's hands". And when she says, "My hands are small I know, but they're not yours they are my own. " I think that part means that she's only concerned with the things she needs to do, her part in life. | |

| Perhaps she wrote this song when she was sad... And she wanted at that moment to say to the world, I'm myself, and I can!! do it, I can make it myself. Everyone is unique and should realise that. Don't give up hope! so then I agree on what dblbassmike says:) | |
