this song is really cool, it has the sound of good emo that I really learned by listening to early Juliana Theory. This is really everything I like in a band, this one song just has the best sound

I think they're just saying don't forget what you care about. I agree with Not Blond about this person getting caught up in material things. He just wants them not to get caught up in everything because the cameras are flashing and they're important.

I always pictured this song being about motivation. We spend all of our lives working to some unknown end, but most of us miss the point of living by fulfilling other peoples wishes. I've spent most of my life trying to please my parents to realize that I will never be happy doing what they want me to do, and no matter how much they hate the idea I have to be my own person.

i think this song is about all the fans out there...not necessarily Jimmy fans, just fans in general. the bands that should be popular arent, and the manufactured crap like nsync continues to tear up the airwaves without any talent (nothing that makes sense ever works out). back in the day, a quality band would be known to all...these days its all hype. if a band doesnt have hype, its ignored. "what you ignore is priceless to me." everything is fake as can be....even some of the good bands are selling out to the fakeness of hollywood. "dancing in plastic shakeup snow." the only way we can see our favorite bands these days is to pay 45 bucks to sit in a lawn 200 feet away from the stage, with crappy sound and expensive water. Thank god bands like Jimmy know how to keep it real.

"Dont bother going through your motions" i really like that line... i think its like... if you ever try out for something, like cheerleading, you go over your motions, lines, or whatever it is hundreds of times until you think youve finally got it perfect, but it doesnt really matter because what really matters is how you perform in front of the judges. This is like how a lot of pop bands have all their dance moves down, and then like JEW knows that it just matters once you get out onto the stage & perform for their fans (or judges).... i dont know if that makes any sense... i think its all about not getting caught up in all the glitz & glamour, and just giving it your all while you are on stage, because some bands are just their for the money & ignore music doesnt , yet the music is priceless to JEW

When I listen to this song the DIY part stands out to me the most. I think it's just about how Capitol wouldn't help them out as much as they needed, esp in promoting areas and such. Maybe that's why he's saying you gotta do it all yourself, and all this "plastic, shake up snow" is plain bull and fake.

This is my 2nd favourite song on Clarity. I absolutely love it!! For me it's one of those songs that makes me angry in a good way. The material-things idea makes a lot of sense. Anyway, I love this song and I have adopted 'Nothing that makes sense ever works out' as my philosophy. Yay Jimmy!!

don't really think its one night stands, its more two people who are just sleeping together and then she has started to ask what is happening between them and trying to make a relationship out of it and he just wants to keep things the way they are, Oh, how i can relate lol 1

i think this song is about the music business and how it can really mess up your personality. that the record label people just want money and don't give a damn about the music and how to remember what matters to you and not them, also that record label people think they have it all good but it's all just b.s. and yeah something like that. JEW ROX!!!

so i read an article a while back that hinted this song was about Capitol Records and it seems quite obvious actually. check these lines:Line 1: why even bother playing?Line 2: No band with talent is on MTVLine 3: the record companies just want to make money not get good music out thereLine 4: you can't be "good" without a major label and MTV playage (own word)Line 5: listen to your little britney and nysncLine 6: you have to DIY to make itLine 8: remember what made you fall in love with music, not the fameLine 12: refering to line 11, is music all about being an record company's pop show?Line 13 & 14: we dont want to be new kids on the blockLine 16: I DEEPLY CARE ABOUT MUSIC, YOU DON'T, AND THAT KILLS ME.

It seems like this song along with a bunch of others, i.e. Bleed America and The Middle, are about being in a fraternity. For all you independents out there, you don't know what's wrong with a fraternity unless you've been in one.

i think this song talks about never really selling out and giving up your principles for money or material things... and to appreciate the work you are doing.
