| First off, this album is amazing! This song has many multiple meanings. Of course its about the upcoming election in Nov. "I hope for better in November" and thats when you can vote! Its also talking about the current state of your own life. So hay hello to good times (the times we remember) trade up for the fast ride (we need excitement in our lives) and the best lines of the song "Why is it so hard to find balance Between living decent and the cold and real" describes the American family perfect in todays world. And the last lines of the song "Hey now, the past is told by those who win My darling, what matters is what hasn't been Hey now, we're wide awake and we're thinking My darling, believe your voice can mean something" You have to believe your voice does make a difference in this world whether it be in an election or in your own decisions. | |

| Ok, first off, I love this song. But, I think Jim's statement that he tried to make with the song is such bullshit. How do tax cuts screw you over? And what is wnxsnipers6 even talking about, he lives in England. Last time I checked, the President of the United States of America's power doesn't extend across the pond. I suppose you all would have prefered having John Kerry as our President taxing us to death, then taxing us after that with the death tax. I love Jimmy Eat World, I just think it's a shame they've fallen into the shithead MTV mindset that the liberal media has created for everyone. He's talking about everyone just being satisfied with one chicken in every pot and never trying to be better off to actually be able to provide for their family and send their kids to college and stimulate the economy to benefit every and really fight the war on poverty. Why don't all of you socialist or communist assholes go back to Mexico or Cuba and stop fucking with the American economy by throwing away your votes on anti-american (John Kerry) and drunk (Ted Kennedy) politicians. Bitches. | |

| I love how when someone posts the meaning AS GIVEN BY THE FRICKIN' GUY WHO WROTE THE SONG, people still insist on trying to analyze it. "what does it all mean? the lyrics are so confusing!" Hey guys! 'Fragmenta UK' just fricking told you! *ah hem* Ok, so...this song fucking rocks! what a kickass way to start the album...one of my favorite songs on the album...(a very mediocre album imho). I love the emotion in Jim's voice...and the use of bells..great song. | |

| Just want to say the whole FUTURES album is SUPREME!! I think this song is about some guy wants abetter future for himself and his "darling", wants to invest their assets (stocks or whatever) "trade up for the for the fast ride" building something worthy for them. It's an optimistic song, he's convinced he can get them better. | |

| D'oh! Above entry seems to be pants...this is from MTV: "The song is about George W. Bush, yeah. It's about being dissatisfied with how things are going and about greed taking over," frontman Jim Adkins said. "The speakers [in the song] are coming from a place where they've done everything right — a successful career, financial stability — but they're still getting squashed by the larger greed. They're taking it to the man." Gotta love Jim! | |

| Ok, this song is amazing, i just wanted to start off saying that. Now, it's pretty obvious that this song was written about the elections and bush, but i mean it seems like they tried to write a song that many people could relate to in many different ways, as well as say their opinions about the election that passed. Im canadian, and i hate george bush, and he should not be where he is, so when i listen to this song, i think about how in the future.. someone muvh better will take the place of him and make the US much better. I know i'm canadian and he isn't the presient of "Canada" cause we don't have a pres. But, the descions he makes about war and etc.. have an effect on us canadians in the long run. This song is very uplifting, and it rocks my socks haha, and JEW is one of the BEST, if not the best things that's ever happened to music in a long time. | |

| I agree with the MTV statment. Financially, my parents earn above 30,000 pounds per year, to get college grants etc.. you need to be earning under that amount, but we dont get that, so we have enough money to pay for our hosue car bills holidays etc.. and thast it we have no money left over for other stuff, and it seems as though all the people who earn just under 30k and get all these benefits actually get more money than us we are stuck in the middle cos we get screwed over by the government and so the people who cant be arsed to work end up with more and we arn't rich so we can only just get by with the money we earn. sucks really. but yeah, i can see hwo the song relates to that. :) | |

| Well said. I would've never guessed that JEW would be anti-Bush, but I guess it makes sense no really good musicians IMO support him. "Why is it so hard to find balance Between living decent And the cold and real" I think these lines basically are trying to say why can't we (as Americans) be less materialistic, not live like we have to compete with each other to have better stuff and whatnot. Of course, that's just my thoughts. | |

| First off, I like this cd a lot. Too many slow songs though, but still good. Anyways, to me, this song is describing what im going through right now. I just got out of a six month relationship with somebody I still love very much. We both want to get back together later on down the road. So instead of moping around, I gotta do good now so that I can have a better future with her in the end. | |
