| Is it just me...or does this song have some kind of eerie meaning to it. It could be about sex...but I also get the impression its about suicide... "A cold can kill us before fumes," and, "We’ll pour us a road, we’ll both drink and drive" ..those lyrics dont sound too romantic or sexual...maybe it's about one of those couples who commit suicide together... but I dont know, what do you guys think? | |

| Personally, I would've sequenced the album so that this was the closing song, as it would leave me with the same emotions after the CD has stopped that "My Sundown" did... I absolutely love the beautiful sonic touches on the chorus: "Kiss me with your cherry lipstick Never wash you off my face Hit me, I can take your cheap shots Leave you with a lovely name" It makes the hairs on my neck stand up! :-) | |

| Few corrections. I believe it is: Wine must go right to your head It'd be easy if you get mad Instead of: I must go right to your hair It’d be easy if you get that To aligatoree - What he means by the "three fingers" bit now that you can see the corrections is that if the girl gets mad, she would most likely give him the finger. In in doing so, she would have three fingers pointing back at her (hold up your middle finger and you'll see!) Excellent song. | |

"your lips go dry but they're sweet inside, wine must go right to your head" 4. "hit me i can take your CHEAP SHOT (reaching, i know) 5. "cause quitting alone will never get you dry" whats everyone else think? | |

| another of my favorites, absoloutly love this song to bits, I noticed people comparing it to My Sundown, but I don't think you can, they are both about completly different things. This song, i beleive is a work of art, but not an ender to the album, I think 'When I want' Is a good ender to the album, well, the special edition one anyway, but the none special edition, '23' ends it extremly well as that is a great song, but as for this song, I just love it so much it sends chills down my spine the lurics and music and everything is just amazing. | |

| First off I need to say that I absolutely love this song. I love driving around listening to this song, having my dreams and thoughts wander off. It's such a good driving around song. Anyways. I agree with CanIBeUrStar about something strange about this song and there seems to be something about suicide. Although the song is about love and them making love for the first time. I think at the same time, they're planning to take each others life together because they love each other so much. It's something along those terms because although I do agree with prayingmantis84 also, there is something else in this song, something more, definately something about suicide. And, the "ooh.. oooh.. ooh's" definately make the song better. Goodbye. | |

| I really like this song. Although some of the lyrics are a bit rap-ish > "Lay back baby and we’ll do this right " But it kind of reminds me of My Sundown, only not quite as good. | |

| Yes the lyrics written above are pretty incorrect. Look in the CD jacket. They're printed in there. And I agree with prayingmantis84's analysis (above). There are some awesome lyrics in this song. It could have been written so much more simply, but I think it reflects the complexity of the situation. They also make the song a mile deep, I love it. "Kiss me with your cherry lipstick, Never wash you off my face..." Am I looking too deep into these lyrics or are they pretty sexual to anybody else? Hmm...maybe I'm a sicko. haha. | |

| I think the song is about romance and temptation. "We'll pour us a road, we'll both drink and drive" .. because they know that what they're doing is considered bad and sinful, but doing it is so appealing that the lyric "We'll both drink and drive" in a romantic sense sums it up completely. I think it's about letting someone know you love them for just one night. I think it's sort of linked to the other song on the album "Just Tonight" which I think is about the lust fading away (with nothing left), but hey - that's just my interpretation. | |

| I have strong difficulties believing that that is all the song is about... while he may have said it, chances are he's said something different somewhere else... it's rather irritating how artists seem to change their minds about what their songs are about. To me, the lyrics suggest exactly what I outlined, probably with some subtext that I'm not getting. I don't deny that there are probably other meanings, that's what's great about music. But I think that the chorus alone STRONGLY suggests that I'm on the right track... "leave you with the love we made" ...um... sex? | |

| I think this song is about love and suicide. No one has mentioned it yet, but it seems too dark to be simply a love song. It mentions sitting in a parked car "the cold will kill us before the fumes." People always commit suicide by sitting in their car in the garage and enhaling Carbon Monoxide. Plus, when people breath too much carbon monoxide they get "cherry red lips." Also the song talks about drinking and driving, and the last verse: Give Me Everything You Got Now I don’t feel a single thing Drag me out into the cold rain Let it hover over me You can't pawn that off as lyrics to a pure love song. He can't feel anything, cold rain. I think it has to do something with being young and living a destructive life full of young painful love, and Prayinmantis, you need to stop being so pompous, open your eyes, there is more there. 1 2 3 4 Next | |

| "2. "cold can kill us b4 fumes" (alcohol will kill you b4 drugs will?)" WHAT? Since no one else seems to be able to (and I apologize to the few who have tried for my generalization), I shall now attempt to decipher this oh-so-subtle song. "Lay back baby and we’ll do this right There’s blankets in back we can use I’ll start the car, but we’ll stay in park The cold can kill us before fumes Now’s the right time for a good song Got something to say, what I can’t? Do you feel bad, like I feel bad? Pour us a road, we’ll both drink and drive" Sounds like him and his girl are out in a car, alone, somewhere. He'll start the car so the heat comes in, since it's cold outside. The cold outside would kill them in less time than the fumes from the engine will. The blankets in the back are for the act of love. The whole song gives the impression of it being the couple's first time together, it's very important to both of them. At the same, time, it seems a little reckless (hence the 'drink and drive' bit) "Kiss me with your cherry lipstick Never wash you off my face Hit me, I can take your cheap shots Leave you with the love we made" Umm... seems pretty self-explanitory to me... moving on... "Come alive on the driver’s side So close I taste your breath Your lips go dry, but they’s sweet inside Wine must go right to your head It’d be easy if you get mad But three fingers point back to you We could stay here Stay here all night No one will know us and the moonlight" Sounds like she's coming over to his side of the car, eh? Probably they're getting into the act, a bit of making out. It would also seem that his lady is a bit of a lightweight, alchohol-wise. "I set my watch by street-side clock A needle in echo groove You pierce my heart like a willing arm Your ticking makes my blood move There’s no way out, This fade out Be happy to get what you do Make him notice... With both fists Cause quitting alone will never get you dry" I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm think this might be more in the throes of passion. Hence the disjointed-ness of the bit at the beginning. If anyone has any better ideas, let me know. The continual references to alchohol seem to be both literal (they have wine with them, and they're drinking it) and metaphorical (the intoxication of the entire event) But yeah, overall, I'd say the song is about having sex, most likely for the first time with a given partner, in the back of a car. Or possibly the driver's side. In any event, it's a great song, it's very beautiful. To the people whining about songs about sex and no substance, or whatever... shut up, please. Just because a song is about sex does not mean it can't be a deeply meaningful, emotional, loving song. I intend to use this on a mix I'm making for a girl I know that likes JEW, because I know she loves the song. And she knows what it's about. We've discussed it at length (yes, this is what I do on dates... it works surpisingly well...) So shove it. Thank you, and goodnight. | |
