this song kind of reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry and the crew are arrested for just watching as the fat guy is robbed. They violated the "Good Samaritan Act" which requires civilians to help other civilians. They've done nothing wrong...but they've done nothing. They can't look away. But they're just looking. It refers to how people in America treat eachother these days.

I would have to agree with most of you...this song's probably about the war in Iraq. Anyway, this song fucking rocks. One of a few great songs on an otherwise mediocre album (imho). I like how the edginess and anger of this song juxtaposes with the "pretty" songs before and after it. It really makes the song that much better.

I think this song is about the media. It's about the people watching the news and reading headlines about the war in Iraq, and they aren't doing anything wrong, but they aren't doing anything at all. We can't look away from the media as the war rages on, but we're just looking.

"Nothing Wrong" meaning these people where inocent they had done nothing wrong and they where ,agean, acused of being comunist! The govenrment was just being stupid! (you know how many people where put in jail for just thiking the word comunist!??) so basically, to wind up my rampage YOUR ALL STUPID, look up your US history!!! I agree with j justice. This song can be interepreted as a political statement, but it can be used to describe any situation of non-chalant apathy. It can be a message about the war in Iraq, but it can also be a message about the homeless man on the street or a bird with a broken wing We (or you) did not put the man on the street or break the bird's wing, so you have done nothing wrong, but did you do anything to help it. This song becomes a fast-paced critique of our modern world, not just youth culture. We did not pollute our water or amass nuclear weapons, but have we broken away from our tv screens to fight them? The message is also timeless because it does not have to be limited to a contemporary topic. Imagine high school or something. We all saw someone getting picked on and we all just stood by, caring only about ourselves. We did nothing wrong (we didn't pick on the kid), but did we stop the bully. Since everyone can relate to these human issues (isolation and betrayal) the song becomes more than a political thing. While I am agaisnt the Iraq war I think it is too easy and too tempting to relate any kind of message to the war. I think the war and all the political hulla-ba-loo has created plenty of inspiration for art and discourse, but not evrythins is about it. Peace.

i think this song is about how the american government goes out imposing on other countries and that the american people act innocent, even though, sometimes, we could probably do a lot more to stop government officials from acting like pompous assholes all over the world

i'm going to use all my willpower and not try to make a political statement. I'll just say, "We've done nothing wrong, but we've done nothing"? If Gen Echo had matching jackets, that would be embroidered on the back.

The guitar solo in this song just simply kicks ass. It needed to be longer.

well, the first thing that came to my mind when i first listened to the song and read the lyrics was someone being bullied or even beaten up and you just stand there instead of helping them. as some of you mentioned before, you didn't do anythign wrong yourself, but you didn't help either. the song is just a listing of many examples of situations in which people are contributing to everything that's going wrong in the world by remaining passive and you can't even blame them for it, the majority of us is the same. This does not onloy apply to the war in Iraq or the USA, it's the same thing pretty much all over the world. As for the blacklist singers, it's just another example of people turning away, not thinking for themselves, asking why they are blacklisted, but buying into what governments/medias tell them, since they've got jobs and family and whatnot to worry about.
