Structure + Lyrics

Intro

Verse

are you going to live your life wondering
standing in the back, looking around?
are you going to waste your time thinking
how you've grown up
how you missed out?
things are never going to be the way you want
where's it going to get you acting serious?
things are never going to be quite what you want
even at twenty five you got to start sometime

Chorus

i'm on my feet
i'm on the floor
i'm good to go
now all i need is just to hear a song i know
i want to always feel like part of this was mine
i want to fall in love tonight

Verse

are you going to live your life standing in the back looking around?
are you going to waste your time?
got to make a move or you'll miss out
someone is going to ask you what it's all about
stick around nostalgia won't let you down
someone is going to ask you what it's all about
what are you going to have to say for yourself?

Chorus

i'm on my feet
i'm on the floor
i'm good to go
now all i need is just to hear a song i know
i want to always feel like part of this was mine
i want to fall in love tonight

Bridge

crimson and clover
over and over
(our house in the middle of the street, why did we ever meet?
started my rock 'n roll fantasy
don't don't, don't let's start, why did we ever part?
kick start my rock 'n rollin' heart)

Last Chorus

i'm on my feet
i'm on the floor
i'm good to go
so come on davey, sing me something that i know
want to always feel like part of this was mine
i want to fall in love tonight
here, tonight

I also just found out there's a Promise Ring song called "Why Did We Ever Meet?" and a Kinks song called "Rock'n'Roll Fantasy". Might be two other likely references.

Song kicks ass... Plain and simple :D I'm not sure what the lyrics mean. I picture a dance floor. Someone's bein a wallflower, and debating whether to go out there and dance with the person they have this huge crush on, or to sit back knowing that they don't have a chance. The song is kinda like a "Hey, dumbass, get out there :P " kinda song. The person wants to get out there and live one of those "dance-floor-movie-scenes" where the hero and heroine meet on the dance floor and fall in love (tryin to think of a movie example... I'll put it up when I think of it). As far as the rest of it, perhaps it's someone who was opened up to a field of music at this dance, and he/she is remembering the experience (Hence the use of "nostalgia"), wishing they could relive the moment. He/She wants to meet the person again, and fall in love tonight... :D

By the way, Davey is a refeference to Davey vonBohlen, The Promise Ring's singer. Also, Why did we ever meet? is actually a single out of The Promise Ring's album Nothing Feels good. If you look at the credits for this song in the Bleed American booklet, you'll notice that Davey vonBohlen is singing backup vocals in this song...
