| as aymier says, they have overlapping parts, but this is one of few songs that ANYONE does that have 3 separate parts...it's what makes the song so strong. static (staying the same) prevails, in a literal sense, could be applied to the world in general...things don't change easily or quickly. it's a hard song to explain, but basically i think it means that no matter where life takes you and no matter what happens, there will always be constants if you look for them, i.e. pictures, memories, old friends. | |

| Static means to stay the same. So he's just saying that nothing's ever going to change the fact that they're friends. No matter how far apart, no matter how long they're apart, and regardless of any other situation they find themselves in, he's still gonna be there. That doesn't change. It's static. | |

| I don't know if it's a good song. I've never heard it, but the lyrics are decent. I'm not a big JEW fan, but they're cool. | |

| i always used to think he said "the longest time to wait" and so this song ment alot about waiting for the right time for me to do somthing. Now i know the lyrics i agree with what others have psoted about the songs meaning but it still reminds me of that time. I love how raw his voice sounds. perfect. | |

| it's a good song. The lyrics are sung overlaping each other. They do that in a lot of their songs. Makes it sound really nice. | |

| static deff means remaining the same. Sticking together like static clothes. "we both know things never change. we both know static prevails." "five years i'm still there. the longest time away, my friend." it's a positve song. not a negative one | |

| Its about two friend that move apart physically(maybe one friend moves away). The keep in contact. But slowly they drift aprt because theyre living different lives. Thats the static. They tried to keep close but they just cant. | |
