Structure + Lyrics
Intro
Verse
I’m not alone cause the TV’s on, yeah
I’m not crazy cause I take the right pills everyday
and rest, clean your conscious, clear your thoughts, with speyside with your grain
Clean your conscious, clear your thoughts, with speyside
Chorus
salt sweat sugar on the asphalt
our hearts littering the topsoil
tune in, and we can get the last call
our lives, our coal
salt sweat sugar on the asphalt
our hearts littering the topsoil
sign up, it's the picket line or the parade
our lives

Bridge
i bled the greed from my arm
won’t they give it a rest now?
rest now?
now?
now?
now?

| I think I said this in another post, but Jim was saying this album was about breaking out of his anxiety attacks and stuff (you can go to their site www.jimmyeatworld.net and look in the news archives in sept if you like references). He refered to the lyrics "bleed from my arm" in this bit. I don't think senor Jim had a problem with the bottle, drinking just makes you... better. This song does have a phatty beat though, props to Zach and Rick. | |

| "it's the picket line or the parade" I believe that this line means one of two things. First, that we either actively support some topics, but others we just don't care about. We have a very difficult time valuing other people. Second, that we are either completely satisfied (parade), or complaining about things (picket line). | |

| Instead of having this band play on the pop disaster tour, they decided to only let the band play only for the first half of the tour and for the other half to let Saves The Day play. Saves The Day just happens to be the most annoying song ever, i mean, when i see their video, it makes me throw anything i have near me at the tv. Its a fucking skinny blond british guy singing with the camera zoomed at his face while he spins and sings, fuck... ! I want this band to continue the tour, i dont know why i wrote this hear but its just annoying as hell!!!!! | |

| The song is a more personal to the singer in my opinion. It is first off talking about all the bad thinds he adapted through American society. TV tell him he needs to do this and that to be cool. The pressure to do drugs and drink to be cool. He did these things and had a problem. He eventually got rid of it, but it was a tough process. Sort of like Bleeding. You are slowly losing something and it's painful to do. That's why it's called Bleed American. He bled and rid himself of all the troubles in American society. | |

| "I normally don't like to reveal the intent of our songs," Adkins explains, "but I do feel I should go into detail regarding the title of 'Bleed American.' "The lyrics describe a period when I was trying to deal with panic attacks. I didn't leave the house much and when I did, I'd go out drinking with friends – alcohol seemed to numb the anxiety. At that time I was also reading Howard Zinn's "A People's History Of The United States 1492 To Present." I was amazed at how far back labor struggle goes in the U.S. and how intense it's been. On some level, I guess I equated that with what I was going through personally. It inspired me. "So one day I decided I was sick of feeling helpless. I made the simple decision that I wasn't going to let myself feel like that anymore. The title 'Bleed American' is a reference to the lyric 'I bleed the greed from my arm/ Won't they give it a rest now.' That was meant to say I'd decided to change. "'Bleed American' is about the desire to change one's life for the better. We named the album Bleed American after that song because that theme of the desire to better oneself runs throughout the entire album. here's that meaning I was talking bout, another one straight from Jim. | |

| Honesty - They did it out of respect to 9-11. Though i'm just gald they didnt take this song off, cause if you listen to it, it REALLY sounds like a reference to that day even though it was written well earlier. | |
