I think this is about dealing with the death of a loved one. There are numerous references to death, such as "white as a GHOST", "this room is as cold as its host" (possibly referring to a funeral parlour - the host being the deceased?), "cries tears as if TORTURED". Reminds me a lot of Coldplay's Fix You, but (in my opinion) a lot better. 1
