LIFE'S BEEN GOOD - Joe Walsh
---------------------------------------
ovationone5@aol.com
As this is quite a long song, I'll start the ball rolling with the
intro riff
key: the songs a little tricky but
practice makes perfect!!the chord
b = bend up progression is kind of simple!!!!
r = release bend
/ = slide up
E---------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------------
G--------------------2----------------2---2-2-------
D--------------------2--------2-----------2-2-------
A--2b3-3r2-0--2/4------0-2/4-----4--------0-0-------
E---------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------
B--------------------------------------3-3-3--------------
G---------------------2----------------2-2-2---2-2-2------
D---------------------2--------2----0--0-0-0---2-2-2------
A--2b3-3r2-0--2/4-------0-2/4----4-------------0-0-0------
E---------------------------------------------------------
E---
B---
G------------------------------2--2-2---------
D-------------------------2-------2-2-------
A--2b3-2b3-2b3r2-0--0-2/4---4-----0-0-----
E-----
E-----
B----------------------------------------3-3-3------2
G----------------------------------------2-2-2------2
D-----------------------2-------2----0---0-0-0------2
A---2b3--3r2--0--2/4------0-2/4----4----------------0
E---
The last A chord is where the other instruments come in
He carries on playing this riff while the slide guitar etc play
other stuff
Then after 8 or 16 bars the acoustic guitar comes in with :
E---5-5-5---3-3-3--1-1----5-5-5---3-3-3--1-1----5-5-5---3-3-3--0-0-0-0----
B---6-6-6---5-5-5--1-1----6-6-6---5-5-5--1-1----5-5-5---3-3-3--1-1-0-0h1--
G---5-5-5---5-5-5--2-2----5-5-5---5-5-5--2-2----5-5-5---4-4-4--2-2-0-0h2--
D---
A---
E---
Then a little lead in on the electric:
E--
B--
G--
D------0-2-3---
A---3----------
E--
And the singing starts here!
F C/E Dm C F C/E Dm C
(repeat once)
then:
G FaddG C G C G C G
G FaddG C G C G/B A
The words over the last C G/B A are "Life's been good to me so
far"
Then it goes back to F C/E Dm etc
Shapes:
EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE
xx3213 x20003 xx2010
FaddG G/B C/E
I think you know the others....
Hope this gets you started- the rest of the song is mostly repeats
and variations on these bits i.e the intro riff, acoustic chords
and the main body of the song (the bit above with the chords)
Hope y'all enjoy

| Hehe, a satirical look at...himself. Classic. What a character. Anyone who can poke fun at themselves in a song is truly looking at things objectively. Go Joe | |

| I love this song, the music is awesome, and it has really funny lyrics. The lyrics arent as happy as you might think, though. It basically shows the life of a regular rockstar in a different light. He hasn't changed, just everybody and everything else, according to him. So he is basically just living his life, which has been good to him. Now in reality, we would see him as a party hard rockstar who spends his money on useless things ("I have a mansion, forget the price, I've never been there they tell me its nice.) , throws big destructive partys ("I live in hotels tear out the walls I have accountants pay for it all ", "I go to parties sometimes until four It's hard to leave when you can't find the door "), and basically just lives the regular rockstar life. | |
