i don't think he's tryin to really crack on anybody..i think he's just saying to be positive about things and you'll find they arent always as bad as you made them out to be!

no halaku, i disagree.i think the song's talking about people in general who complain about their small problems and don't see whats happening in the 'real world'. the song's saying 'go take a step outside and see what's shaking in the real world' - pretty self explanatory really. 'Oh won’t you just wake up feel the humming This cruel world is killing you better start running Catch up with your life, catch on up Before the whole thing is through' this refers to all the people who live their life in regret and compaint, and that they should wake up from it before their life is over.

I never really liked this song. It just wasn't my idea of JBT. Anyway, I think JB is a little off on this one. In today's world, complaining is really looked down upon. There are not many ways people (if they are down) can complain, without really sounding like a jerk and then shunned by whoever they complain to. Whether he's saying stop complaining or it could be worse, these people then have no one to vent to, and their problems, as small as they will be, will slowly grow, until this person actually can effect the world, and from their past they repeat the same mistake of those who shunned them. People need someone to complain to, and saying don't do it, could just make things worse. It's not that I don't like the song because of my explanation, i just didn't like the beat of it. ;)

This song really is quite pathetic. OK sure people in third world countries have it a lot worse than us, but JB shouldn't be pointing the finger at people here saying their problems are not important on a global scale. I mean if someone in Australia or any other developed country is suffering from depression you can't just say "cheer up, it could be worse". It tells me John does not really understand mental health issues. Everyone has their problems. And with this whole 'emo' movement these sorts of problems tend to get exacerbated among today's youth. But if someone has a genuine case of depression or the likes you can't just tell them "it could be worse" becuase that just adds to the problem.

I dont think this song is about depression or being truley upset about something that effects you. I think its about complaining about trivial things, the gameboy comment in the song is particually what leads me to this, I think its about the way people complain because they dont have the newest phone out there, or because they dont have the latest little music gadget, and theyre not seeing everything else thats going on around them. People complain about things that dont truley effect them on an emotional level, as opposed to a material level. Or even blowing things out of proportion so they seem to incredibly bad, but when you go out and see whats going on around you, it opens your eyes to not only other things, but to your own problem.

personally, i think it means not to whine and complain about your problems, but to actually do something about them to fix the problem. peace.

I disagree... He isn't saying "It could be worse" he is saying stop complaining! You know perhaps this isn't to someone with a mental health issue like depression. But either way they could benefit from helping people in a third world country cos you know helping people makes you feel better and takes your mind off your own pain in a most cases. I think he is right though... we all sit here with our gameboys and ipods and all that bullshit when we could be out there helping someone live! This song isn't pathetic it is true. We are depressed because we are stuck in these little cement communities with technology coming out of our ears and if you dont do well in this test you wont get into TEE and you wont go to uni and you'll never amount to anything. There are family issues, social issues every other kind but this is the life we chose. I know people who suffer but they think differently. They say to themselves they aren't gonna let this weaken them they are gonna let it make them stronger. Its all about your outlook and your mindset.

i can not believe that anyone would have the guts to criticize this song! jb's not saying to not complain, he's saying to stop complaining about trivial things and realise that there's bigger things going on in the world: starving ppl, wars, injustices everywhere! if you are going to complain, complain about the important things! he's telling ppl to realise how good they've really got it- "your cup is overflowing". this is a GREAT song! 1
